amanda’s story about conquering her lupus
Kind Lifer Amanda posted her success story in the forum recently, and it’s a really good one to read if any of you are suffering from health issues. Check it out:
“It all started a little over two months ago… I had a gift card for Barnes and Noble that I decided to spend by purchasing The Kind Diet. I had seen it before but didn’t believe I could ever change my lifestyle to this. I had come to a point though where I no longer had any other option but to make a change. When I was 16 years old I started having joint pain along with swelling and a list of other things. After months of blood tests, different scans and a number of doctors I still didn’t have an answer. The doctors continually tried to put me on different medications and some even said it was probably because I was a bit overweight. In the fall of 2007 I left home for college even though I was still dealing with the pain and was no where near a diagnosis. After one year away I realized that I needed to be close to home where I could find a doctor who would help find the cause of my mysterious symptoms. I finally received my diagnosis just a little over a year ago… Lupus. I had no idea what this was or how it would affect my body. So for the past year I have been placed on a number of medications.
My story gets better though, I had my usual appointment with my specialist yesterday, who was elated at how well I am doing. Just after being vegan for two months I almost feel like I did before my diagnosis. I have lost 11 pounds and no longer suffer from the excess joint pain I did for a number of years. My doctor also felt that with all of the progress I have made my lupus is not as active as it was and I get to cut my medication dosage in half! My body will never be normal and I have accepted this, but becoming vegan has made me feel so much better. I still have weight to lose and of course would love to transition to becoming a Superhero.Buying this book was the best decision I have made for myself. Thank you doesn’t even come close to the gratitude I have for Alicia and this amazing book!”
