My Favorite Tupperware…

So I’ve been using Preserve Products Toothbrushes for years now. They’re my favorite toothbrushes, and are great because you can send back your old ones for recycling. Anyhow, until recently I never knew that Preserve also made Tupperware! I had been looking around the web for great food storage containers, and came across them. I have the small and large bowls now, and really love them!
Now, at home I like to use glass containers to store my food in, as I feel so much better about using glass than any plastic. But for when I need to travel, it’s much lighter to carry Tupperware containers than glass ones. And since I can be a klutz sometimes, I’ve broken quite a few glass containers”. So sometimes plastic is better for me. When I was in NY for Time Stands Still I would walk to the subway and sometimes all the way to work with my food, and food that I would bring for Laura Linney” so tupperware containers were the only way to go. And I feel great about these containers. They are so cute too!!

I like these for several reasons – They are recyclable, stackable, and dishwasher safe. Preserve has a wide variety of products… And the coolest part is that they transforms things like yogurt cups and take-out containers into toothbrushes, cutting boards, and other products for the bathroom and kitchen. You can read more about their recycling process here. Preserve makes all of their products from 100% recycled plastics and 100% post-consumer paper. They also make all of their products in the USA, so that they can ship them shorter distances which limits their environmental footprint.

Another reason why I love Preserve – All of their products, including the Tupperware, are BPA free, which is very important. BPA, or Bisphenol A, is a chemical used in polycarbonate plastic food and beverage containers. I recently saw this clip on the Early Show about BPA and the harmful effects it can have on children. Well, if the FDA is saying that there is somewhat of a concern about the effects that BPA can have on kids then it must not be safe for adults either, right?! It’s so upsetting to see that the government still allows production of products that are “potentially” harmful to our bodies. In my opinion, I think it’s safe to say that they are definitely harmful to the planet and our bodies” So next time you plan on buying food storage containers make sure that they are recyclable and BPA free.
