Meditation, a relaxing bath, and the great outdoors.

  • Becca Z

During busy and stressful times I deep breath every time I am in my car, an elevator or walking a parking lot, and then every other chance I get, and along with that I schedule massages, they are a proven tension release for me and help so much.

  • Amanda Williams

I unwind by playing with my daughter. It’s harder than 1 thinks to abandon adult responsibilities and play + it makes a child so happy. I stay balanced by consuming a kind diet and exercising 5 to 6 days a week during busy and stressful times. My gym friends say that salt baths heal muscle soreness from working out, so I would love to try the salts. I have been struggling for months with a combination of eczema and acne on my face ( I can’t take steroids because I breastfeed –my 3 yr. old). So, I would love to try these natural products on my sensitive skin.

  • Lainelou

  • Regina Hughes

i unwind by having a morning cup of tea and quiet reading time before sunrise…xo

  • Shalise Merchelle

Right now I am pregnant, in my first trimester and seriously battling nausea. Several times a day I sit or lay down with my hands over my belly and picture the amazing future I am about to have with my first child. I think of playing outdoors in the sunshine with my baby. His/her smiling face. My man by side. I focus on my breathing and feel all the stress and nausea melt away in waves. I try to project all these happy thoughts through my hands into my womb and surrounding him/her with love.

  • Lea Fulin

I find myself relaxing while nursing my 18 month old son, we lay down on the bed and look out the window together or just close our eyes. When ever my son is taking a nap, I like to take advantage of the moment and stretch or lay down flat on the ground to do a few breaths. I am sure there is a fun yoga term for this but I don’t know the name. :-) I recently bought some lavender soy candles that I am so excited to light before bedtime so we can relax ! My husband travels for work at least two weeks a month so I really find myself feeling over whelmed when he is gone. I ask my family for help or I just expect less of myself during those times and try to just focus on nourishing my sons mind and heart. I have to say that my special juice I make everyday that consists of cabbage, ginger, kale, beets, carrots, celery, cucumbers and what ever else was green and on sale that week really helps me have the energy and balance I need to stay calm, balanced and gentle even in trying times. Having a growing toddler that misses his daddy is very stressful! Peace and love to you Alicia. I appreciate your time and energy that went into the kind diet/mama. I would love to learn more from you. Xo.

  • Laura

I unwind by taking a bath and reading a good book. I have also started reading about mindless meditation and it is very interesting. I think it will be a great thing for me to do along with doing yoga!!

  • margo allen

I live with my inlaws at the moment and with two teenagers who just got engaged….yea, its a bit hectic to say the least, add one 6 month old and we have a party. Thats 7 people total in this house (crazy). We moved in to save money for a house and in the middle of everything I changed jobs then christmas hit. These days to keep the stress to an all time low, I usually kidnap my husband and kid and go for drives to the coast or I go to a movie by myself, whatever it takes. Self care is so important to be able to function in my life so I work really hard at taking those moments to be centered, focused and present and not feel guilty for making sure I can be the best wife and mommy I can be.

  • Krysten

Personally, the best way to unwind is through the practice of yoga. It reinvigorates your sense of self with the ability to connect back to living a kind life. If I am unable to do yoga, I try to step outside, soak in the sun and take some deep breaths to try and come back to my center. Thank you for this opportunity! I love the products you shine a light on, especially the fact that it is cruelty and toxin free!

  • Rachel

I unwind by pouring myself a glass of wine, taking a hot bath, or going to yoga. I also enjoy just reading a book and cuddling with my cats.

  • Meg Tucker

I ‘try” to start unwinding even before I get home. It’s not easy but practice helps. I’ll start by taking 20 deep breaths in and out for a quick mood booster while I’m driving home and then stretching as soon as my heels and work clothes are off. It really does help!

  • A Lamb

I have made a schedule to get me through the darker months. Including a 9pm candlelight intention time. So far it has been very soothing.

  • Alyssa Kindred

I like to workout. A good cardio routine and fast music always makes me feel better!! I also love bubble baths and just relaxing with my husband and son.

I like to practice yoga. I feel so calm and at peace when I am done with a session.

  • Kelly Zalak

Raising my daughter to be compassionate gives me such joy, but even kind mommies need to unwind every now and then… I sneak away for personal pampering time once she goes to bed for the night… I end up missing my (almost) one year old, even then, but ‘me’ time is essential!!! <3

  • Mandolin Ziadie

I do something special for myself – a manicure or massage if I have extra money or a nice long bath if I dont.

  • Anna Marie

I like to unwind by having a bath and reading a great book.

  • aimee

happy new year! there are so many things i do to unwind and stay balanced…to name a few, daily runs, meditate, listen to music, reflect on things/people i am grateful for and share my gratitude with them, stay connected to those i love and care about – even just a quick note that says i’m thinking of someone, sharing affection with my kids/husband, burning candles and incense, focusing on the present moment, journaling, organizing, baths, massage, and eating treats and drinking wine help too :) thanks for the opportunity to reflect on it all! love it. been wanting to try these salts.

  • lydiarose

I love to do yoga and read a nourishing book that warms my soul/ spirit. If I have access to a bath, I will sometimes submerge myself in hot water and Epsom salts/ essential oils, there must be candles and a good book/ music… Staying in touch with my breath, being in touch with nature, listening to truth within and without… ☺️

  • Laurie

  • Krista Shaffer

I read a book, run or do yoga. I’d love to add a relaxing bath routine with baby #2 on the way soon!

  • http://brinnet.etsy.com Tammy

I take a little time before bedtime to do some fun reading in a real book. And when it’s really crazy busy, I take 5 extra minutes during my shower to just breathe in and out — that’s something you have to do anyway (at some point!) so it only takes a few extra minutes to treat myself.

  • owsla

Reading is always a great way for me to relax and escape. =)

  • Heather Mitchell

My favorite way to unwind is by spending time with my two dogs. Penny Lane, a toy Australian shepherd, and Tahoe, and German shepherd that I rescued, are by far the most calming beings in my life, and their souls provide me with so much unconditional love. I know that I can come to them at any time and receive love with open paws. I love to spoil them and give back some of the unconditional love they show me, although I’m sure I could never repay them. As I write this, they are on either side of me asleep, and Penny Lane is snoring as she lays on my foot. My fur babies are by far the best stress relief in my life, and I couldn’t be more blessed to share my life with them.

  • http://www.robinmiller.us/ Robin Miller

Walks in our local park mellow me out when I’ve had a stressful day. I love taking baths but haven’t lived in a place with a tub for the past five years. We’re currenting in the process of redoing our shower to add a tub. Should be finished the end of this month! I can’t wait to relax with a warm bath, candles, and perhaps these bath salts. :)

  • Alyssa Parker

I love using lavender essential oils to relax and fall asleep more quickly.

  • Martha Lawson

I enjoy reading before going to bed to unwind.

  • Carrie D.

If I’m at work, I take a walk on our nature trail. I’m so lucky to work at a natural history museum! Or, if I’m at home, I read a book or take a nice, long bath.

  • Meg

Vigorous cardio balanced with yoga and clean eating and prayer = happy me :)

  • Brielle Long

I struggle with giving myself permission to stay balanced. I always want to GO! I am aware of it and actively take charge by focusing on how grateful I am for my body and what it does for me. Health is an incredible gift! Like with almost anything, its a full circle, I stay balanced during stressful times by turning inward, being grateful and eating extra well!! Alicia’s advice in The Kind Life consistently rings true: “When you lose track, or become overwhelmed, sit and slowly munch veggies and breathe” I have literally stopped on a dime and done this exact thing several times. My mind clears and my heart “gets right” and I move forward with grace and gratitude!

  • Joanna

I like seeing friends to unwind. It usually brings me back to reality and helps me realize that we all have similar stress in life and it is okay!!

  • Malaika Roemer

I take my greyhound to the park and run around with her.

  • Sara P Allen

I curl up with my dog and spend some special time with him enjoying his unconditional love and the otherwise silence of my home.

  • Erin Kristine Ehly

I love soaking in epsom salt and practicing Yoga Nidra. It is just so beautiful for quieting your mind and body.

  • Womanhearmeroar

Yoga 100 percent for me. Reading comes in next!

  • Tam Wallace

I unwind in a couple of ways. A quick bout of yoga definately helps, but having my furkids help me with my yoga practice always eases any lingering tension. It is just way too difficult to stay stressed and tired when you have 2 greyhounds doing downward facing dog right next to your downward facing dog, or having one of the kittehs curl up in a ball on your chest when you are in corpse pose. I’m not sure my yoga teachers would appreciate my giggle fits when I am supposed to be ending my practice with a nice meditation, but meditating with 3 dog heads in my lap is a bit silly, and soothing.

  • Jess Hutto Ross

A peaceful bath with my lavender Eucalyptus salts and a good book are my prescription for unwinding 😀

  • Brandi Young

I have had my eye on this set (love Rodale’s and read Prevention)! To stay calm and balanced I set an intention and use breathing exercises. I find that breathing isn’t only for moments of insanity but it helps relieve headaches, upset stomach and tiredness. I like to unwind at night with a hot shower and lots of love from my pups!

  • Beth

I have been a vegetarian for six years and after reading The Kind Diet I realized my lifestyle needed to be revamped so I became a Vegan and have been for six months now. Wow! What a difference it has made. I feel so much better physically and mentally. I try to take a 10-20 minute daily meditation to reflect on how I impact the earth and its inhabitants and strive to make my world a better place. My husband and I are talking about selling our home in two-three years so we buy property for a farm to rescue more animals.

  • Carolyn

I make my body is relaxed foremost — sure I stay hydrated, do breathing lessons, and If I have a chance take a warm bath or preferably use a whirlpool to refresh. Also waking strenuous walking for 5 minutes often recalibrate me. I am also careful that I am not indulging in sugary or fried products. I am able to remain more “present” for myself and others when I am more considerate of my body’s needs.

  • Jess McGee

I head for the forest! Camping and completely disconnecting is my way of…reconnecting. Nature heals, always. Thanks for the giveaway! ☺

  • Lainey

Well, when I’m super busy and even feeling stressed, I try to take a step back, a few deep, cleansing breaths, and remember that everything is going to be ok, and that the stress I’m experiencing now is temporary! And remember what’s important– leading a kind life in all ways. It’s about being kind to ourselves too and putting ourselves first when we need to. It’s a practice, but it’s true :) And a nice bath at the end of the day can work wonders!!

  • Samantha

When I’m stressed I like to take time for reflective journaling. It seems simple, but it is usually the first thing I let go of when I feel pressed on time. To feel more motivated, I may chose a quote, phrase, or reading that I am touched by as a theme for my writing. It’s especially calming when I can set myself up right: curled up with soft music playing, my favorite tea, and a soothing candle.

  • christine marti

Yoga always makes me feel better or a walk by the beach. But if you can’t get away, a bath at the end of the day (or whenever!) is always nice. You step out feeling better than when you stepped in. Even if it’s just a little bit better. Tea and candles make it even better. :)

Oh I do so many things. Having a self care ’emergency’ list can be so important – a few things you can turn to to wind down or return to calm during stressful times. I personally like to have a cup of tea, to do a quick workout, to meditate, to have a bath, to call a friend, to journal, to read, and the list goes on. I’ve made it part of my journal practice in the morning – to write down at least one thing I’ll do for myself that day.

I’ve really loved reading what everyone has written here, some great ideas :-)

  • Bubble

chin up. shoulders back. one day at a time. breath by breath. moment to moment.

to connect with my inner child helps me to stay balanced and calm. the most important for me is to remember where I come from and that what my soul and body needs the most is self love.

  • Kristie Panico

I always make sure to do yogalosphy. It is great because it combines relaxing yoga with some toning. I also enjoy my natural teas – dandelion root, ginger, nettle and Kombucha while working. Honestly, I like sleep. Taking a walk or going to the gym works if I have the energy. Swimming in the ocean is my ultimate favorite.

  • http://tbirdchronicles.com Taylor Garritt

When I want to unwind, I treat myself like an absolute goddess and INDULGE. I encircle my man with a deep, long, meaningful hug, take a hot bath while I braid my hair, scrub my entire body, and enjoy whatever book I’m reading, and I spend quality time with my kitchen creating. Usually my stress is caused by my own pointless anxieties, so to me, staying balanced 100% starts from within. The only way to beat the stress of every day and to stay grounded is to remind myself that I deserve my own attention before anything or anyone else does.

When I am in need of unwinding and need some calm in my life… which is everyday… I hug my sons. They are 5 and 2. Of all the things I’ve done in my life, and of all the people I know, having them reminds me how much of a miracle life is and most of the time I am in awe of them! They truly are the best reminders in life of just how precious this life is! So, that being said we hug and cuddle and laugh. That centers me. That calms me! Looking at them, knowing that they came from me and that I’m responsible for these beings makes me feel so special! It really centers me! I feel blessed… Busy, tired BUT amazingly blessed!

When I need to unwind from a stressful day, I love to read a good book in a hot bubble bath next to a yummy smelling soy candle. This allows me to relax and focus on something else.

I like to unwind by reading or soaking in the tub. Also my favorite music. Any time alone to just let my head be quiet for a bit.

After a long stressful day I love to put on a record, one that makes me wanna dance like The Best of Cream, and just try to remind myself to not take things too seriously and to enjoy life! Sometimes it helps to write out what I’m feeling. Seeing it on paper and trying to explain it to myself usually makes me realize how stressing out about some things is doing more harm than good!

Swimming!!! I’m lucky enough to have a job that allows me to take a paid fitness hour three times a week and access to an indoor pool. It allows me to be in my own bubble with no noise and I just go go go.

I breath….take deep long breaths…..snuggle up with my puppies and go for walks. If I have extra time, I take a long deep relaxing bath.

Being in nature, reading a good book, and relaxation techniques, like meditation, all help me to relax in stressful times.

Yoga and meditation: having these two things be part of a regular daily practice has really helped with managing my stress and anxiety. When things get VERY hectic, sometimes that routine gets kind of wobbly – in which case listening to my favorite kirtan music, or spending just a few minutes visualizing and breathing – lower effort variations of yoga/meditation – can really help.
