Kind 101

4th of July is Almost Here!

4th of July is almost here… From unhealthy BBQ to loud fireworks that scare our furry friends, it’s easy to be a fourth of July scrooge! I admittedly don’t love this holiday – I usually spend the day in a low key way, watching a film or going for a walk. If you’re a 4th of July enthusiast, it is a great opportunity to celebrate summer and spend time with friends and family. It’s also the perfect opportunity to spread the kind! There are so many yum plant-based BBQ dishes: from delicious yet simple veggies like grilled corn or portobello mushrooms, to potato salad and BBQ tempeh sandwiches with cole slaw.

For some BBQ inspiration I’m sharing this “Tale of Two Barbecues” infographic!

I would make the potato salad from Christina Pirello’s Mad as Hell cookbook. Rave reviews from meat-eating family members.

The 4th of July is also not a fun time for combat veterans since fireworks remind them of artillery fire.
