Insane Ice Cream!

It was in honor of Bear’s birthday that I went on a mission to find the most delicious, must try ice cream out there. And with summer kicking off, what a fun time to celebrate super yum dairy free ice creams!

Listed below are my top ten favorite picks, with #1 being the most delicious. Keep in mind these suggestions will obviously depend on your mood and preferences! If you are a strawberry fan, the strawberry picks will rank ahead of coffee for you :)

I know there are many many companies out there, so please let me know in the comments below what else is an absolute must try! Especially for healthier (cane juice/agave/sugar free) ice creams that still taste insane!

1.) So Delicious Turtle Trails

So Delicious

Turtle trails is epic!! I found it when searching for some insanely delicious ice cream for father’s day a couple years ago. Once I had it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it!! I think I ate half the container.

  • organic soymilk base
  • sweetened with organic dried cane syrup
  • non-gmo verified

2.) Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss Vanilla Island

Coconut Bliss

If you’re a vanilla fan, this one is the real deal! The vanilla bean flavor and texture is amazing. This is now my official go to for vanilla!

  • coconut base
  • agave sweetened
  • certified organic
  • non-gmo verified

3.) Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy P.B. & Cookies

Ben & Jerry's

This one is insane, it’s really great!! Pretty dangerous actually, you can get hysterical over it. Plus, how great is it that Ben & Jerry’s is making vegan ice cream? I’m very impressed with this smart move!

  • almond milk base
  • sweetened with sugar
  • non-gmo
  • Fairtrade certified

4.) So Delicious Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl

So Delicious

If you love chocolate and peanut butter, definitely try this one! It’s really decadent and delicious. This is the ice cream I went with in my Peanut Butter Chocolate Madness Milkshake recipe. If you haven’t made that milkshake yet, it’s the real deal!

  • organic coconut base
  • sweetened with organic dried cane syrup
  • non-gmo verified

5.) Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy Coffee Caramel Fudge

7.) Vixen Kitchen Coffee

vixen kitchen

Vixen’s organic ice cream is super tasty! And even more exciting, it’s cashew and maple syrup based. No other added sugars! I liked her coffee flavor so much we ordered it to have at Bear’s 4th birthday party. I love that its made with maple syrup and not very many ingredients!

  • cashew base
  • sweetened with maple syrup
  • certified organic

8.) DF Maven’s Strawberry

DF Mavens

I first tried DF Maven’s at the Natural Products Expo West and thought their strawberry was insane! Then while in New York last summer, we were happy to find they had an ice cream shop in the east village, although we are sad to hear it is now closed :(. My favorite from their shop was the green tea and Bear loved the rose water and the strawberry as well. You can now find and purchase their products online.

  • coconut base
  • sweetened with evaporated cane juice and sugar

9.) Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy Chocolate Fudge Brownie

ben & jerry's

Out of all the chocolate flavors I’ve had recently, this one was the best. The chocolate is yummy and smooth and the brownie adds some fun chewy texture to it.

  • almond milk base
  • sweetened with sugar
  • non-gmo
  • Fairtrade certified

10.) Millie’s Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel

millie's

Millie’s chocolate sea salt is great, really easy to eat! Their vanilla flavor is also pretty nice.

Well you covered most of my favs for sure, but SoDelicious also has a chocolate with chocolate truffles flavor made with cashew milk that is pretty darn good too!

  • Kourtnie Good

WOW!!! I couldn’t stand Ben & Jerry’s! It was so FULL of oil and left such a gross film all over my mouth like eating a bad glazed doughnut. I’d be happy to give you some sample of The Good Cream. Nothing but simple ingredients to make a creamy non-dairy ice cream.

Great ice cream reviews! Thank you Alicia for sharing and many happy wishes for Bear’s 5th birthday. I love the photo of the broccoli to consume after eating all the ice cream!

  • Kourtnie

The Good Creme would love to give you some samples! All simple natural ingredients and most of my flavors are less than 150 calories per 1/2 cup serving! So creamy it fools Omni’s!

All GMO free! Working towards being 100% Organic. (Almost there) Soy free. No added coconut taste unless it’s part of the flavor.

Just curious why Nada Moo didn’t make your list? I wasn’t overly impressed by them at Expo. but that’s just mho.

  • C. Blake

Very good ice cream! I love it! I hope there’s some fun video footage of Bear’s birthday party like on his 3rd. Loved seeing that.

  • Amanda Spalt

All of my faves have been discontinued. I was obsessed with soy dream green tea ice cream for the longest time. Curious if anyone knows of a vegan green tea ice cream? So delicious had one for a second, but they discontinued that one as well :(

  • Jamie Fields

I love Nada Moo Chocolate Almond Chip! It’s relatively low in calories (120 calories per 1/2 cup) and sweetened with agave. Also, Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss Mint Galactica and Cherry Amaretto are delicious!

I am a vegan for health reasons. The only one without salt among the first 5 is the Luna’s and Larry’s ice cream. Michael Bloomberg is Jewish, was mayor of NYC for 3 terms and is 9th richest in the world so he is pretty smart. He got over 95% of manufacturers to lower the salt in food. We can put our own salt in ice cream. Do you think that it affects flavor of ice cream? It is the worst thing in our food although it is only one third as toxic as arsenic. Four ounces of salt taken at one time can kill a person.

Micheal Greger M,D. has a video proving it is the only cause of high blood pressure. In other words humans and animals that do not consume it, do not get high blood pressure. It is not a food but a rock. He says that it kills over 1,000 Americans per day. He is the MD who defended Oprah when she was sued by the meat industry. She won! WebMD has an article saying that consuming salt is worse than health than smoking cigarettes. They put salt in foods since it is addictive. See http://hub.me/ajMJb

I like So Delicious coconut based “ice cream”, but was surprised that the almond one was not good. I like Amy’s product; it uses sugar instead of agave. Actually I try to stay a way from them’ it’s hard not to eat too much.

I wish we had the vegan Ben&Jerrys here in sweden! I am lacto-Ovo vegetarian but thinking about going vegan. Great blog!
