We’re Headed to Atlanta!

Hey friends!

I’m headed to Atlanta in the near future to shoot Diary of A Wimpy Kid and I’m looking for some extra help. Specifically, a part-time assistant and a part-time babysitter for Bear.

Babysitting:

We’d love to find fellow Kind Lifers who have experience working with children, have their own car to get around with, and are able to work flexible, but part-time hours. We’d also be thrilled if you are familiar with the Waldorf philosophy and love playing outdoors!

Assistant:

We’d love to find fellow Kind Lifers who are have experience with personal assisting, are detailed oriented + highly organized, and passionate about assisting in everyday tasks.

If you are interested in one of these positions, or feel like you may be a great candidate for both, please email us at [email protected] with your name, email, phone number, photo of yourself and credentials (resume + brief cover letter + references). Lastly, please clarify what your interests are and if you are open to both positions or prefer one over the other.

We’ll get back to those candidates we’d like to follow up with an interview.

Thanks for your interest!

Also, ATL kind lifers, please share in the comments below any of your new or old favorite places to eat, see, hear, and enjoy in the city!

Love,

Alicia

Check out the current Chihuly exhibit at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and MetroFresh for great eats nearby. For a great day in nature, check out the Serenbe community just outside Atlanta!

In an area called Little Five Points (?), downtown Atlanta, there is a great co-op called Sevananda. Besides having lots of vegan food and vegan bulk foods*, they have a ‘hot bar’ for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also make up their own prepared on-the-go foods. Very tasty stuff! They also have all the sundry items you might need. http://www.sevananda.coop/community/

    *The co-op is exclusively vegan/vegetarian.

Just a few miles from downtown, there is a 100% vegan restaurant called Dulce Vegan. Specialize in baked goods, but do have a breakfast and lunch menus (although not extensive).

And, if you care to indulge, in Decatur (where Waldorf is?), there is a Revolution Donuts that has several vegan donuts.

My favorite things to do here are going to the Chattahoochee and renting canoes at “Shoot The Hooch” in Roswell, Music Midtown will be here soon, Atlanta Botanical Garden, MLK Center, Atlanta History Center, Little Five Points for shopping, road trips to the waterfalls in North Georgia, beach day on Tybee or any of the other Georgia islands that are a 5 hour drive from the city and Savannah for its history, architecture and arts. Oh, and a show at the Fox Theater. There’s lots of good craft breweries around town with tours and tastings if y’all are into that. Please have a meet and greet and have fun!!

There’s more! Biking on the Beltline, Helen Ga. for tubing and the cute Bavarian town, Serenbe is a great town to visit.

Hi Alicia! Every time you mention going to Atlanta, I wish I could be there to overlap, for a visit! I love ATL + miss it! I will put my feelers out for people. ;)) xox

You will LOVE the Atlanta Botanical Gardens! Gorgeous place and so fun for kids too! Serenbe is about 40 min away, but look into that for a day trip. You would love the concept of this community. So interesting. Ponce City Market for sure, interesting shops, places to eat, great ice cream! Atlas is great for dinner in the St Regis. UMI for sushi.

    Hi Alicia,

I’ve just made the big lifestyle switch, and want to thank you for writing ‘The Kind Diet.’

That said, I have lived in Atlanta most of my life (had a brief interlude in Los Angeles!) and can recommend some truly awesome places to grab a vegan meal if you’re in the mood. Not sure which area of Atlanta you’ll be in, but check out Cafe Sunflower in Sandy Springs – https://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-sunflower-sandy-springs-atlanta – or Soul Vegetarian closer to downtown – https://www.yelp.com/biz/soul-vegetarian-restaurant-atlanta-2.

I truly love Atlanta and hope you have a great time here. I’m a lawyer-turned-public school teacher so I can’t help out in the assistant or nanny search, but if you’re up for hanging out in the city with a pretty cool native sometime, I’d love to say hello!

My favorite place to eat in ATL is Home Grown. They have an award winning vegan sloppy joe made with peaches.

Pizza from Ammazza is also fun, more so for the environment.

    ENJOY ATL, Alicia!

Cafe Sunflower in Sandy Springs has wonderful vegan/gf options! Grab a bike an head to Silver Comet Trail. Great conversion of old train line to paved paths to ride/run/walk. Go out a bit further to Mabelton to start. Im an EA and would love to assist but thankfully I love my full time gig! Enjoy Atlanta!

I second Sevananda Co-Op; they have a great vegan mini-lunch-buffet. Also definitely check out Fig & Flower http://www.shopfigandflower.com , a shop in the Poncey-Highlands neighborhood that sells all-natural skincare/makeup/bath & body. They’re really picky about what products they sell. The Piperwai deodorant is the BEST! It’s also near Soul Vegetarian/Vegan restaurant.

If you’re still there, make sure to check out ATL’s best Thai restaurant! It’s L’Thai West Organic Cuisine & Wine Bar in Smyrna/Vinings.

I grew up in ATL, but return to visit family and always make {at least one} stop there. They’re super accommodating with a great vegan selection. I’m loving this particular blog because I’m finding out about places I didn’t know existed. Thanks everyone!
Alicia, hope you have a great time in ATL!
