I started The Kind Life back in October of 2009, and over the last three years, it’s steadily grown. I’m thrilled we’ve just reached 50,000 members!
I’m so happy to have all of you here. You constantly inspire me, and as I sit down to write my next two books, you guys are the first people I think about. What’s great about this community, and what makes it different from other sites, is your level of commitment to helping each other out and continuously learning about new ways to live a kinder life. Every time I go in the forum and see you guys answering each other’s questions or jumping in to help each other out, I feel so happy!
In case you don’t know, you can join and become a member of The Kind Life by signing up here. That way, you get alerts on everything that is going on. When there are giveaways you are first to know, and we’ll send you emails with news and recipes from the blog.
I’d also love to hear what you’d like to see on The Kind Life going forward.
Tell me in the comments below:
What do you want more of, what could you do without, what do you love and what would you like to see me cover that I haven’t talked about yet?
Thanks for being here. I love you guys!
Love,
Alicia

Hey Alicia-
I'm a newbie to the kind life. There are a few items in your book I'm totally new to or have never heard of. Maybe if you could have some sort of reference page on line or something with pictures and more examples of brand names you use to help find them a little better! For example.....I didn't really know what a umeboshi plum was. That's all......I love everything about your book and web site! Thanks! xo -
Hi Alicia,
Thank you for making this such a wonderful site to stay connected with! To answer your request for suggestions, a couple things that I haven't seen much coverage on but would like to are:
1. Vegan Furniture: Curious if you have any suggestions on great options to choose from for furnishing one's home if leather sofas are out of question.
2. Yoga: I've heard that veganism is very popular in the yoga community. Curious if you practice yoga and what your thoughts are about it.
Thank you, Alicia! -
Wonderful.
Share a website with you ,

Believe you will love it. -

Maybe more on being a kind parent and raising a vegan child. Also, affordable vegan fashion :) -
I like the links to Kind organizations and resources. It is through your site that I discovered Kris Carr, Chloe Coscarelli, Hungry for Change, and the PCRM Challenge. All of these have changed my life in so many ways -- and revolutionized my kitchen. I feel so strong and knowledgeable in my quest to improve my family's diets and overall health, and it is ALL THANKS TO YOU!!! Sending love, Alicia. -
Please share information about an alkaline vs. acidic diet. I first learned about this topic from Brendan Brazier but after doing additional research, differing opinions are out there and I haven't been able to find definitive information, research or studies. Thank you. -
I love the site it's great thanks! I've really improved my health and what I put into my body and on my body. Because of the mind body soul connection I also like reading about spirituality and how to feed our mind positive thoughts and feed our soul love. Tips on meditation, how to feel love and acceptance for yourself and others, yoga tips etc love and light to you. Xxxxx -
First, I LOVE the site and everything about it! My biggest suggestion is to have even more info on products and companies that make vegan clothing, accessories, etc. I have no problem finding vegan food, but vegan shoes are a whole different story. The site already highlights great companies, but I'd really like to see even more. Thanks for everything you do! -
Kari,
GABA rice is very expensive and it is hard to find a good quality. You can homemade GABA rice by using a smart rice cooker, ( for example Zojirushi model : NP-HBC10- XA ). The quality of protein in GABA rice is much better than brown rice and more complete. I eat GABA rice in both form, raw and cook, overweight people eat raw GABA rice lose weight very quickly, it also bring down cholesterol, blood pressure, and stabilized blood sugar. -
I always like to see new recipes, and would like to see more posts about animal rights and environmental issues. I've been critical about your use of Earth Balance, Alicia, but really, I have you to thank for that. Since reading The Kind Diet, I am more aware, intentional, and crunchy! ;) Keep up the good work!

Congratulations Alicia! The Kind Diet, along with the book Eating Animals and the movie Food Inc. inspired me to go vegan about 3 years ago. It has been the best decision of my life and I have you, in large part, to thank. So, thank you! Btw, I have yet to see your new play but heard it was amazing! Best wishes! -
I want more time with my family. I always want more vegan options at our local grocery stores. What I could do without snobby, mean, nasty, selfish people.I like other posters would like to hear success stories.
I wanted to congratulate you on your site your beautiful family and just the fact that you are so genuine. I am so glad I found your book it has changed my life and love being a vegan even thought my family think I'm crazy. Congratulations again!!!! -
Hi Alicia, My vegan friend recommended your book. I read it & made changes in my diet. As many others comments stated, I think about where my food comes from and how it effects my body. Thank you for all you do! In response to asking for recommendations, would you be interested in offering recipes that are gluten free & soy free, too? -
GABA rice? Where would I look for that? I live in Montreal and have no idea where to start! -
Kari,
Have you ever had GABA rice, ? it is dozen times better than brown rice. GABA rice has more fiber, GABA, and nutrients over brown rice. -
Congrats, Alicia!
My name is Kari, and I came to the website by reading
The Kind Diet. I can say that the book, along with the documentary
Forks Over Knives, changed my relationship with food forever. Not
only have I stopped eating animal products, I have also stopped eating wheat
and almost all dairy. I have discovered a passion for brown rice, gomashio,
and black beans, all foods I haven't liked much until recently. I have discovered that
I am happier, slimmer, and quieter inside. I want to thank you for playing
such a huge part of that. I'm delighted to have found the book and the site, and to
have been able to change my life in such a happy way. -
Congratulations!! What an awesome milestone. I really like the recipes and all of the great information that are in your posts. -
Congrats on the milestone! Keep the recipes and food advice coming. I am really enjoying it all. Have a great weekend! -
Thank you for asking! It was the recipes that brought me to The Kind Life website and later the book. I like the gentle approach.
I appreciate the positive stories, and the personal touches from Ms. Silverstone, it makes it real.
Keep it up! -
I love reading people's stories of healing themselves with the Kind (vegan) Diet, and I like recipes, and I like the little personal tidbits about what Alicia is up to in her life, oh and alerts to good causes! I always read the Kind Life and all the comments. Thanks to Alicia and everyone who contributes. -
I think The Kind Life is perfect, Alicia! Have a great weekend, people, and especially Miss Silverstone! X. -
Thank you, Alicia, for your guidance and encouragement. I had contemplated the vegan lifestyle for quite sometime, beginning as a vegetarian/flirt. But YOU are the main reason for my decision to make the commitment. After your appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show, I immediately purchased and read The Kind Diet. Your book provided the inspiration and information I needed to ultimately take the leap. Your down-to-earth, personable approach and first-hand experiences helped me realize that I CAN and SHOULD do it (for so many beneficial reasons), despite the initial obstacles and potential opposition from others. You made veganism and Superhero status so attainable for me when, before, I did not think it was a lifestyle that I could maintain without immense struggle and sacrifice. I feel so enlightened! I have never felt healthier, more energetic, and lighter (physically and mentally) as I do now that I follow a vegan/Superhero "diet". I feel so fulfilled. You are a special person - an inspiration - and you are really making an impact on people's lives. Thank you, Alicia! -
Hooray for a tremendous milestone! Congratulations on building such a thriving community!
I noticed that there haven't been success stories published recently. Those used to be the highlight of my week. I loved hearing how adopting a kind diet improved people's lives, and I loved sharing those stories with my family and friends. I'd love if that came back as a regular feature!
