Protecting chimpanzees and ending experimentation on these intelligent primates is an issue I deeply care about. Recently, I blogged about chimps in captivity and the U.S. government-funded experiments done on them. Because of all the chimps used for entertainment and experimentation in the U.S., many people don't realize that they are an endangered species in the wild.
One way to help endangered chimps and end cruel experimentation on captive chimps in the U.S. is to ask the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list all chimps, including those in captivity, as endangered. The Humane Society of the United States, along with other animal rights organizations, has filed a petition to make this happen. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is now asking the public to comment on the issue, so now is the time to speak up for chimps!
To help, fill out this petition at The Humane Society, and don't forget to personalize your letter. Let's do everything we can do give chimps better lives.

Dear Alica,
thank you for bringing this up. I have sent the alert message an pls let us all know whenever we can make at least such a little contribution. I sincerely hope it is going to make an impact.

In a recent talk, Dr. Jane Goodall, the problem is driven by three things:
- Overpopulation
- Extreme Poverty
- Unsustainable Lifestyles
In Africa, logging companies have opened up the recesses of Africa to poor hunters who sell all kinds of animal flesh to wealthier local populations. Multinationals contribute to the problems through their unrelenting drive for higher profits regardless of the environmental costs. As a consumer, you can make a difference. Think about the impact of the foods you eat and the products you purchase.

Done! Thank you for bringing this great info. to our attention. I am very plugged in to animal issues, but sometimes I don't get all of the notifications that I would like to:-) Cheers to the kind movement!

Thank you for the information and the link. I just signed it. I actually signed earlier today, as well, when the HSUS e-mailed it to me, but I don't think it hurts to sign twice. I, also, care deeply about chimpanzees and the great apes, so thank you very much for doing everything that you do to spread the word and get information out there.
