action alert: sweet pit bulls need homes
A shelter in Camarillo, Calif. is holding several pit bulls off its euthanasia list to give them a last chance at rescue or adoption. They are all very friendly and look like adorable, loving pets; the one that really pulls at my heartstrings is Rocko, a male pit bull terrier and Labrador retriever mix described as young, sweet, mellow, and a social butterfly with a tail wagging low. Look at his puppy eyes!

I just saw a post on FB from our local Animal Shelter that they have been housing a Pit Bull, Diamond for a year and a half. So sad that this girl has yet to find her own home. If anyone in New England is interested, she's at the Manchester Animal Shelter.

This is an important topic. People are SO misinformed about these dogs! While out to lunch with my family last month, I noticed a Pit Bull wondered up to the restaurant. The dog layed out on the sidewalk and gave us kisses while we discussed what to do with him and, of course, how wrong everyone seems to be about the nature of these dogs. He rode in the back seat of my dads small car all the way to the SPCA and back (when we realized his owners had contacted SPCA officials) only leaning forward to lick my dads and my sisters faces with me following close behind. When it was over, we joked about trading in our Jack Russell Terrier for him because he was FAR better behaved.

Alicia, Thank you for sharing in order to help save these sweetie pies! I agree with so many of the others that these dogs are discriminated against unfairly. They are loyal, tenacious and so intelligent! I have two beauties of my own. I shared it, hopefully they will find good homes :)

I'm soooooo HAPPY you are telling people about the need of such an incredible breed that has gotten a bad reputation because of the mean people that own them!! I own pitbulls and work for a local rescue that fosters pitbulls and cant thank you enough!! They are by far the most dedicated breed I have ever owned and sooo loving!! Thanks again for getting the word out about the huge need!
