I got a chance to attend one of Christy's cooking demos while she was on her book tour a few months back and it was fabulous! She is a very talented and knowledgeable chef. I cook recipes from her cookbook all the time and my family loves them all!

I am a vegetarian, almost vegan, living in Kingsville, South of Corpus Christi, Texas. I hope you can come down this way someday. I don't care what my friends and family say, I'm Proud to be Vegetarian. Do you have a video website? -
Excellent - love seeing Christy up on this site! Makes me really want to go to Texas so we can hang out again like the ol' days. But thanks to social media, I feel like she never left. : ) Plus, as a few people have said, I love that she's breaking through the Texas stigma and showing the state how delicious plant-based food can be - go Christy! -
Thank you so much for all the thoughtful comments and praise about Blissful Bites!
Yes I did recently move to Austin, but I'm still offering private cooking instruction, cooking parties, and team building/speaking for companies in the DFW area. Don't hesitate to call if you want to discuss setting up something.
I also do phone and Skype consulting and food coaching anywhere in the world! :)

I may be reading incorrectly, because I only had a chance to skim Christy's site, but it appears she's actually teaching in the Austin area... not Dallas/Fort Worth?
-
Right or wrong, certain states carry a certain stigma about them. Texas is thought to be a 'meat and potatoes' state. Everything Tracey said is true...Texas has come a very long way and is really progressive. That said, if you take it from a different point of view, what Alicia said is actually just reaffirming that fact. Perspective is everything.

I'm grateful to have met Christy. She really, truly lives the vegan lifestyle COMPLETELY! She's so passionate about what she does. Her cookbook even takes into consideration being eco friendly....by dividing it up into seasons! =)
I can't WAIT to see her cookbook will be! I'm definitely waiting in anticipation to see what she comes up with next! -
I live in Dallas and Christy came to my house for private cooking lessons in February. She even helped me convince my husband to try Veganism. Blissful Bites is a great cookbook that I use frequently!
-
I was in Dallas last month and, with the help of dallasvegan.com, was pleasantly surprised by the city's offerings. Check out Sprial Diner, Veggie Garden, and D'Vegan.
-
Genevieve, sorry. What I meant to say was Houston 4th largest city in the country with San Antonio and Dallas making up 3 of the top 10 largest. I edited poorly...LOL Not that it matters. Texas is still Awesome!
-
I've been lucky enough to take a class from Christy. Her recipes are wonderful and Blissful Bites is one of the most thoughtful and beautifully designed cookbooks that I've ever owned. Everyone should own a copy.
-
Tracey -- not to take away from all of your excellent points, but I believe Houston is the fourth largest city, behind NYC, LA, and Chicago, respectively.
-
I don't know why the "that's right, you heard me, Texas" thing bugs me but it does. Certainly there are more Vegan/Veg places in LA and NYC but good lord, Houston is the 3rd largest city in the country. We have more theater seats than any other city after NYC. We have a LESBIAN mayor (the first in the country) and a TON of restaurants that offer VEG alternatives as well as specialty veg restaurants. Not that the two are related, LOL. We aren't all raising cattle, in fact while other cities across the US have lost job for the last 48 months (LA, 36 months down, riverside 48 straight months down), Houston has RECOVERED all jobs lost (at only 16 months down) I wouldn't say I am "offended" exactly, but it bugs me. I am originally from the NorthEast so it's not a native thing...but Texas is a lovely place to live and prosper and eat Vegan and go to Farmers markets. It's a diverse people and economy.

Very cool :) Looks like a great book! I love that she does the "in home" teaching sessions... that will really help a lot of people who are trying to make the transition:)
