I’m so glad you all loved No Impact Man!
From Heather:
“I watched the movie on Netflix a few months ago and really liked it. It was full of inspiring ideas but also very real (his wife complaining that she wanted her coffee and that it was supposed to be "no impact man" not "no impact family.”
From Rhonda:
“I watched the video and I it made me really think about how spoiled and wasteful we are as a society. We need more of these types of films and people writing about this subject and it makes not only for raising our awareness but for entertainment too. I think it is really important for all of us to think ‘how can we have less of an impact on our environment?’ We could all benefit from taking a few lesson from this No Impact Man and just commit to doing some things differently.”
From Jewelstaar29:
“I really love love love this project! It is so inspiring and thought provoking. Every time I pick up ‘trash’ items that can be re-used during trash day in our neighborhood I think about how proud Colin would be! I even got to hear one of his lectures and again it was great! Share the project with everyone you know!”

I loved the movie and the book, truly inspiring. I have to confess I have no trouble being vegan, but sometimes my eco-friendly self wavers a bit. I like to re-watch the movie from time to time to remind myself of all the simple things I could be doing in my day to day life.
I agree with Alicia, when I watched the movie I also had questions for the dairy farmer regarding the cows fate. I find it really interesting when people and organizations that pride themselves on being eco-friendly but still endorse the consumption and use of animal products. It feels like they are taking the easy way out, by ignoring that aspect of environmental impact and focusing solely on what suits them best. Just my two cents... -
Most members of this blog are already doing low impact things by simply avoiding animal based products. To do more, requires that you start preparing your own whole plant based foods without resorting to shortcuts provided by packaged, bottled, or refined food ingredients.
Karma is instant. Your health and feeling of well-being will improve as your diet shifts away from refined carbohydrates, oils, salts, MSG, and other food additives.
Another way to move toward a lower-impact lifestyle involves critically looking at mass media content and advertising. Do you really need to purchase that item or live a certain way?
