GIVEAWAY: green to go cups for your home or office

Jul 12, 2012 at 6:00am by The Kind Life

tbd:Amazon:photo

Typical disposable cups are terrible for the environment: generally made from virgin paperboard, they contribute to hundreds of billions of pounds of garbage each year. It's insane!

:Amazon:photo

A company called Repurpose Compostables has launched a green alternative. They are lined with plant material, and the outer part of the cup is made of Ingeo, a plant-based resin. These cups are compostable in 90 days, and made from 100% renewable resources.

So for those of you trying to inspire your office to go a little greener, I'm going to give away three 12-packs of these Repurpose disposable hot cups. All you have to do is leave a comment here, telling me why you want to try these Repurpose hot cups!

Of course, the most eco option is to use a mug or cup, but of course for those people who just won't do it, and there are tons, these are perfect!

Three winners will receive a 12 pack of these compostable hot cups.

Good luck!

I work for a company that supplies breakfast/lunch to school children and faculty and staff. We go through a lot of coffee in a day and I am ALWAYS saddened to see all of the waste in coated paper cups and plastic covers in the trash! We compost everything including the napkins we use, so this would be a great alternative to trashing the cups and being able to utilize our composter for coffee cups as well. I would love to bring these to the attention of the powers that be in my organization!

My family seems to love disposiable cups so I would like to switch to an eco-friendly cup until I can talk them in to using mugs and glasses

I'm not crazy about throwing away cups like this, BUT if it helps people that don't like metal cups then I am all for it. How can we get other comapnies to use these?

WOOHOO! These are awesome! I have broken numerous mugs that I drag around everywhere with me. I NEED my green tea every morning and these would make it so much easier! Especially because I am a college student! It's not easy being a vegan in the dorm life, but it's well worth it.

This would be awesome. I have two cups on my desk. One for coffee, which I'm trying to kick, and one for my herbal teas. I see lots of disposable cups in the trash. If I can get the office on a more green style I would consider it a day well spent. Since I am in charge of the supply ordering, I would be aweful easy to get these in the office instead of the usuals.

I think it's a great way to break the ice about living green, healthy and meat free. I love telling people how easy it really is to change if you just stop and think of how all life can benefit. I'd give them a cup of thought.

I am trying to convert my condo building with green alternatives. When I first moved in, they didn't even recycle. We have come a long way, and I think these cups will be ideal for them to use.

I work with behavior disordered children in a public school district. We teach the kids about living green so we should also set an example by showing them we live what we teach...Thanks for considering me and my school in you give away...

My husband and I are starting a flag football league for 5-13 year olds. It is a fun, safer (than traditional tackle fb) way for the kiddos to get moving and learn the game. I would love to have these cups to serve coffee/tea to the parents on our first day so we can spread the word!

At Baptist Health of South Florida we are all about going green and being eco-friendly, infact our new hospital West Kendall Baptist Hospital and Medical Arts Building was built with "Green" in mind and is now an all green hospital. I actually work in the real estate office for Baptist and we have Engineers & Security coming in and out frequently. These would be the perfect "to go" cups for them as they get coffee or water!

Thank you so much for sharing this company and also I love the new sight! Great job!

I am part of a group within my office who is campaigning to become more environmentally friendly. We work in the video games industry in a fun company, but we're part of a larger office building that is so wasteful. Our cafeteria uses styrofoam food containers and paper cups overflow from the trash bins daily. I have been pitching ideas to my CEO on ways to become better, and I would love to present these to him and pass them out to my co-workers. Thanks :-)

I usually buy coffee in the morning but I am on a new budget now and trying to make it at home instead. It would be so convenient to have these cups and I would be saving more than just money!

I usually make my coffee or tea at home and take it along with me to save money and cups. But it would be great to have these in my car for the times when I like to get my coffee on the go. These would be great!

I'd love to try these because I usually end up leaving my reusable mugs in my car's cupholders - therefore being useless when I need them in the morning! Having a few of these on hand as a backup would be great.

We use our travel mugs for everyday use. However, when we are taking a road trip, we don't like to take our mugs since leaving them in the car for any extended period of time can become nasty business. Therefore, using biogradable disposables would be best; that way we'd be able to take our own coffee with us and toss it, and not have to worry about what's growing in the cup in our absence.

I work in a school with children so having the glass or ceramic reusable mugs can be a hazard. I would love to try these for that reason! If they get knocked over, no biggie.

I work for a wonderful company that strives to help families and children through the country find child care. My office is full of dozens of bubbly and energetic people however these amazing people would be not so bubby without their daily dose of tea or coffee. To say the least my company is full of coffee addicts and unfortunately we have not become green coffee drinkers. Many people use coffee mugs however there is still a great opportunity to trade in the paper coffee cups or Starbucks cups for earth friendly versions. I would love to bring in these cups to my work and spread the word about compostable cups!!!

I always have a reusable cup with me for my drinks but find it an issue for others that might want to take something togo. I can't give away all my cups! This would be a great alternative to loosing my much loved tervis tumblers that I have used over and over again for years now!
