People.com recently reported on Benjamin Millepied and Natalie Portman’s vegan, eco-friendly wedding. It sounds like it was amazing! They chose Big Sur,I think one of my and my husband’s favorite places on Earth…a naturally beautiful location. Instead of flying in flowers, they used indigenous wildflowers. The menu was 100% vegan. Yippeee! You are awesome, Natalie Portman! Instead of cake, they served French macarons. Guests were given packets of wildflowers to take home. So lovely!
Have you been to a beautiful, eco-minded wedding recently?

I wish someone would please explain to me all the media LOVE for this woman who makes millions of dollars advertising products which use animal bi-products and test on animals..... It's so confusing. -

I wonder what she ate when she was prego?
I had a vegetarian wedding, so I did have cheese, I had a few friends who were great cooks, as well as I, make some dishes, had eggplant, spinach dishes, salads, fruits etc. had the ceremony at Cuyamaca college at their water conservation garden, it was nice, also I had potted herbs in clay pots for gifts, the reception was in my aunt in laws back yard mad to look like a Tuscan barn. and my aunt painted a Greek sea scene in her garage, we hung lavender and sage we picked from a canyon and had that as our cafe seating, it came out really well and on a budget :) ps only one person mentioned that he was surprised there was no meat, My Uncle. but everyone loved the food, and there was really only one other vegetarian besides me!( my husband was not :( -

My wedding was 100% vegan, in Brazil in 2006 :)
About vegan french macaroons, there's a great recipe on Vegan Desserts by Hannah Kaminsky!
And talking about Natalie Portman, I've read she dropped veganism while pregnant but never read nothing after that. Considering the wedding I'm assuming she's vegan again. -

I love Big Sur, as well. Used to live in Monterey, Ca. for over 15 years...loved stopping at Nepenthe restaurant when I was there! Miss it very much. -
Here's a link for a vegan macaron recipe:

I love the idea of using the local flowers...no waste and no harming Mother Earth...lovely! -
What great ideas! Anybody have a good link to a vegan macaron recipe? All of the ones I've seen are maringues, egg white based... -
Sounds so beautiful - Big Sur - what a perfect location! I grew up a few towns over from Natalie Portman, and am getting married this year also. The wedding is 100% vegan, with an entrée to reflect my future husband's heritage, just like Natalie did for her husband. Our Vermont venue is 100% solar operated and we've planned eco-consciously throughout the entire planning process. Congrats, Natalie + Benjamin! -

How beautiful! I'm getting married next year, our wedding will be vegan and we're looking at making it really eco too. I love the flowers idea - we were thinking of having potted daffodils for people to take home instead of having cut flowers round the place. Wonderful :) -
