The original Native Foods restaurant in Westwood has been a go-to spot for me for years. I’ve done three plays at the Geffen in Westwood, and every time, I love to get the other cast members food from Native Foods. Their menu is great for people who aren’t veg - just really good vegan comfort food.
Anywho, I’ve been to the Westwood and Palm Springs locations quite a bit, but recently, I visited the Culver City location for the first time. And, I have to say, it’s the best one of all! I had the Rockin’ Moroccan Bowl with tahini sauce instead of the Moroccan sauce, and it was soooo good. It came with two skewers of “native chicken” on top of quinoa…so delicious.
This is the best vegan ice cream ever!
I took a peanut butter parfait to go, because my husband loves it. It has cane juice, so not superhero, but so yum! I once did a talk at UCLA, where Tanya who owns Native Foods, provided the catering. The Thanksgiving feast she made was delicious, and I remember thinking, wow, this is even better than the food at her Westwood location.
Now I know, the Culver City location is the one! It’s bigger than the Westwood restaurant, and when I went, it was packed. I had to wait for a SOLID five minutes to order, which is great news. It seemed it was filled with regular meat eaters who just love the delicious veg food there.
If you’re a flirt, you must try the Culver City location of Native Foods!
What other restaurants would you like me to review?

You have to try the reuben!!! Prior to becoming vegetarian, I used to get corned beef sandwiches with mustard on rye at LEAST once a week. Native Foods actually created something BETTER than the original! Highly recommend this. Also the Twister Wrap is one of my favorite things I've ever eaten. -
They have 3 locations here in Chicago and I harass the managers every time I am in there to open another on the North side. Have a few friends that eat a lot less meat because I introduced them to Native Foods. Stopped in there for lunch today. -
Native Food is my fav!!! I love bringing non vegans there too. The menu is amazing, so many fun dishes.

I just moved away from Chicago (to Louisville) where we had THREE Native Foods locations! I miss it so much! I'm hope they will keep expanding. It's not only great for showing meat-eaters that vegan can be great, but it also works for friends of mine who keep kosher! -
I love the fact that there are so many vegan restaurants but I havent found any by me!! I live in North east PA on the border of NY and NJ so if anyone knows of anywhere by me I would love to hear about it thanks xxxx -
Have you checked out some of the vegan restaurants a little further up the coast? My faves are HIP Vegan Cafe in Ojai, and Adama Vegan Comfort Cuisine in downtown Santa Barbara. HIP is literally a little hole-in-the-wall place, but with a nice dog-friendly patio and a GREAT selection of sandwiches, wraps, burgers, and salads. Adama is a full-service restaurant, also with a dog-friendly patio. They have FABULOUS food, a Happy Hour, and nearly all-day breakfast on the weekends! -
I am a big fan on Native Foods, but also really LOVE Veggie Grill. I'd be interested in seeing what you think of their restaurant. The All Hail Kale salad is out of this world! My omni husband likes the Southwest "chicken" sandwich, and my kids are big fans of their mac and cheese plate with carrots on the side and choc. pudding for dessert.

my teen daughter begs to go to the native foods in lake view, chicago - loves the "meatball" sub and native fries so much she won't even try anything else on the menu. and my dogs go crazy for all the seitan treats there. :-) small tip to all - we like to mix the raspberry tea with a little of the lemonade to go with our dinner. -
My office is walking distance from the Native Foods in Westwood and I go there for lunch about once a week. The Moroccan Bowl is my favorite too but the gluten-free taco trio comes in a close second. -
i LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!!! their food is the best! especially if you're having cravings for vegan comfort junk food - like chili cheese fries and buffalo wings! truly delicious! i also especially enjoy the gyro bowl (quinoa, roasted vegetables, seitan, and delicious sauce) must try for anyone who is able to get there!!! -
