Earth Day is everyday for us! The official holiday this Sunday, April 22 is a great occasion to get out and spread the kind. For all of you East Coast Kind Lifers, bring along your friends and family to some of these Earth Day celebrations:

1. New York - If you're in New York City there are tons of events for you to choose from. Earth Day NY puts on Passport to Green New York, which is an eco-scavenger hunt through five boroughs that highlights some of the green opportunities throughout the city. Sounds fun and cool. A great event for kids and us big kids too! There's also a free festival from Thursday, April 19 through Saturday, April 21 called Earth Fair NYC, with green companies, artists, musicians, and interactive exhibits that inspire New Yorkers to be more conscious of living a greener lifestyle. Also, check out Central Park for Earth Day Holiday Crafts in Central Park on Thursday April 19 from 2-4pm and Earth Day Celebration in Central Park on Sunday April 22.

2. Boston - Boston is throwing some celebrations as well! If you're a runner, jogger, or walker, join the Race Against Extinction 5K (pets are invited!). They're donating to environmental organizations like The Nature Conservancy and others. Radio 92.9 EarthFest will be showcasing environmentally friendly products, groups and activities with live music. If you're in Massachusetts, but not in Boston proper, you can find a bunch of events on the Mass.gov website.

3. Washington, D.C. - If you're in the D.C. area you can celebrate Earth Day on the National Mall on Sunday April 22 with speakers, activities, an eco-friendly expo and big musical guests like Sting, John Legend, and Mavis Staples. That sounds kinda amazing! You can also help clean the Earth on Saturday April 21 at the Anacostia Watershed to help keep our rivers clean. Check out some other events and festivals for D.C. HERE.

4. Florida - If you're in Central Florida you can check out the Central Florida Earth Day Celebration on Saturday April 21st at Lake Eola Park with speaker panels, music, a Kids Zone, food and more. Fun for kind mamas, papas, and kids!

(Another event...His Salvage is just outside of Boyertown, Pa.)

Chucks Auto Salvage would like to reach out to our local community as a public service in relation to our upcoming Earth Day Celebration, Friday April 20th 2012.

The community is invited to bring their waste oil, antifreeze, automotive lead batteries, and tires (limit 4) to Chuck's Auto Salvage at no charge on Earth Day between 8am and 5pm for proper disposal. Companies such as, Reliable Auto Enterprises and Hazelton Environmental will be joining forces with Chuck's Auto Salvage, and be on hand to assist.

As the community strives to save money by doing more of their own service and repairs, it is important to dispose of all automotive solid and liquid waste properly. During last years Earth Day Event, over 100 households brought in over 400 gallons of waste oil and 230 tires along with other fluids and scrap metal.

The automotive dismantling industry is one of the original recyclers and Chuck's Auto Salvage, founded in 1972, has prided itself on green-recycled-parts-logo.pngbeing environmentally conscious ever since. They currently recycle all fluids including oil, brake fluid, antifreeze, washer fluid, and gasoline during their indoor dismantling process. They also recycle lead batteries and other required materials. As a leader in conservation, they have chosen to be involved in the ELVS program which promotes the removal and recycling of Mercury Switches.

The American Automotive Fleet currently numbers some 270 million vehicles. Of these, it is estimated that nearly 11 million vehicles are taken off the road each year when they reach their so called End Of Life (EOL). About 75% of the parts are salvaged for reuse, about 20% of the vehicle is recycled, and the remaining 5% is thrown away. This makes an Automotive Recycled Vehicle, one of the greenest products on the planet.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle automotive waste properly by bringing any waste oil, antifreeze, lead batteries, and tires (limit 4) to Chuck's Auto Salvage, 6867 Boyertown Pike (Rt. 562), Douglassville on Friday April 20th between 8am and 5pm.For more information of our Earth Day Celebration and to schedule a Tour (Media welcome), contact Dee Cunningham 610-689-1108.

The Great Cloth Diaper Change is this Saturday. Anyone with kids in diapers can participate, and there are over 300 registered sites around the world. Many are on the East coast and across the US. We are hoping to set the record for the largest cloth diaper change! Many sites will have loaner cloth diapers for those who don't regularly use them. Our smaller city does a "Green In The City" Fest. All shops in the downtown district feature their eco-merchandise, foods and services. There are educational booths and music as well.
