The United States is one of only two countries that still performs experiments on chimpanzees. Save The Chimps is working to stop that. They recently stepped in to save a few of these amazing animals who were being used at The Coulston Foundation's research facility in New Mexico.
Watch this beautiful video of the chimps' route to freedom.

When we live our day to day lives in constant awareness of the suffering and exploitation of animals, we need these happy stories to remind us that change is within reach.

Tears of joy for these incredible animals at having finally been rescued. Thank you to those who made it happen and to everyone here, who share my love of all creatures great and small!
I have been called an extremist, silly, ridiculous, unrealistic, and many other things, but all I feel is sorry for those who just don't understand and do not feel love for all living beings.

I'm so outraged!!!! I'm sure you have heard about the shooting of this mountain loin in SM by the SM PD. They should have to answer a lot of questions... I'm hoping that the local chapter of PETA And help from others like Alicia will force an investigation...So sad, what a beautiful animal, not buying the tranquilizer story at all...This makes no sense to me, why kill him... : ( How did he get there? This would be very difficult...PLEASE make them answer some questions regarding there action...

I would have to say that puppy mills are one of the biggest animal issues that is always on my mind, just because we have adopted two puppy mill survivors over the years. One of them even had a tatoo of a number on his ear. Grrrr to humans who can treat other animals so inhumanely!

Okay. I went to a university that does research with chimps. i wanted so badly to get involved in that research and I still do (you don't feed my family do not judge or lecture me unless you don't take birth control pills, prozac, or any other modern medical marvel that was in fact tested on animals and everyone is against animal testing until their children get leukemia). That said. Our facility the animals Roam and Romp in this huge field.. When i say huge field i mean acres and acres and then some. like recreated their natural environment. Maybe its because a lot of our primate research has to do with social and memory based stuff. A chimp would have to have SIV (its like AIDS for monkeys) or some other illness to ever be kept in isolation the way these were. We wouldnt even keep our rats in a place like this! I don't understand how any IACUC committe could allow this. Its disgusting
