what a playful, lively video...thanks for sharing it, Alicia...I absolutely loved the music...sounds sort of Spanish to me...and the cat and owl were adorable...

Everyone can be friends! I'm using this for the first day of school tomorrow, sharing it on the Smartboard. I will be sure to include the lead-up of how they became friends.

Amber - the owl has jesses, not chains, on its feet. It's a trained owl. Like people who train hawks. It's basically the same thing as a leash for a dog. It doesn't have to be anywhere near the cat if it doesn't choose to be. Jesses aren't tied to anything while the bird is actually flying, they're more for securing it when it's on the hawking glove or a perch.
So this is 100% consensual :)

Some background to the video can be found here: http://www.fumandgebra.com/
These two are certainly good friends.

love! i have two sisters (one is my very best friend, and the other doesn't like me very much - she still resents me for being bulimic for 11 years, sadly :( . . . but she is pregnant, yeah! and she has a black cat like the one featured in this video! so, if, by chance, she gives birth to an owl, the owl named 'michael' and her cat named 'tony soprano' will absolutely resemble the owl and cat characters found in this video! haha! :) thank you for bringing such sunshine to my life everyday through your fabulous posts, alicia! ~ nicole in pittsburgh, http://www.nicoleandgwendolyn.com

emm...like Amber, I am not liking this vid so much. It's hard to see what is actually going on without context....

My mom forwarded this to me a couple months ago thinking it was cute too, but I found it a little heartbreaking. If you watch it again with "new eyes," note that the owl isn't enjoying it half as much as the cat. The owl has ankle chains on and is being swatted at and pounced on by the cat. Dislike. Sorry.

Beautiful! Animals make no distinctions in their friends the way humans do. They just know love. Thank you for sharing! :)
