I'm always on the lookout for new ideas for creative gift-giving. A while ago I decided I would start baking treats from my book to give to people as gifts! They make very yummy gifts, and it adds that personal touch that I just love!

Recently I made Lemon-Poppy Seed Poundcake Muffins, Chocolate-Dipped Shortbread Cookies, Oatmeal, Walnut and Dried Plum Cookies and Coffee Fudge Brownies. Yum!

I used baskets and wrapping paper from things that I've saved from past gifts, so it's all eco friendly/reused stuff. Then I printed out the recipes (on recycled paper!) and included those along with the baked goods. They made the cutest and tastiest gifts!

What are some gifts you like to give people that include that personal touch?

Does anyone know how long the shortbread cookies will stay fresh in an airtight container ? :D

i am obsessed with this idea! ive gotten to the point where affording birthday presents for all my friends at 20 or 30 bucks a pop just isnt working out. im totally gonna start giving delicious desserts, that happen to be better for you too! -
A simple and tasty treat that I like to make for friends or family is homemade trail mix! I mix unsweetened shaved coconut, raisins, peanuts, and Sunspire carob chips! SO easy and SO DELISH! -
I did a similar thing for the holidays, but I gave out jars with cookie ingredients inside, and a recipe label to tell them what to do! -
For our one year anniversary I made my fiancé a scrapbook album with lots of pretty recycled and scrap pieces of paper and pictures from our computer printed on recycled paper.... Of course I had also kept every card, concert ticket and movie stub over the last year! I made a page or two for every month and chronicled our yearlong courtship. It turned out really neat! -
What a great gift idea! Not only is it eco friendly, but it is the perfect way to promote how delicious vegan baking can be. -
Two Christmas' ago I made mini personalized photo albums for everyone in my family along with a framed photo of something special we did together. I browsed the clearance section at Marshalls and Ross over several weeks so I got the albums and frames for just a few dollars each. Then I ordered photos online from shutterfly in bulk so they only cost 10 cents a photo. Also, if you order $40 at a time you don't pay shipping. If you are anything like me you have years worth of photos you've taken during family gatherings, outings and holidays. It was so fun for my family as well as my inlaws to see those photos in print versus just via email! They gushed over each others albums for days!

The Oprah show was great!!! People need to realize that being vegan isnt weird! it is a normal day of life for myself and my family of 6! Our kids love tofu! Meals are easy to make and delicious! People are just too stuck in their old ways and afraid to try something new! Go vegans!!!! :)

Saw Oprah yesterday and was more excited than normal. It was EVERYTHING you taught me in your book! I am thrilled to already be living a kinder lifestyle. I know that program changed lives...thanks for bein a part of it! -
DANG, I meant to leave a hello here earlier - SO beauteeful - there is NOTHING more fabulous that a loving, homemade gift - now that's nourshing in so many ways! :) -
My husband and I make vegan chocolate cupcakes that our meatlover friends even die for and like to give them out to friends unexpectedly.
We also started making rice krispie treats using vegan marshmallows from sweet & sara.
I think making something homemade, that is vegan and delicious and surprising friends by just dropping them off unexpectedly is pretty rewarding. I love it when friends tweet how shocked they were that vegan desserts can be so tasty. :D

Alicia,
I am a poppy seed bread fan and have you ever tried to use almond flavor instead of lemon? It makes for a delicious Almond Poppy Seed Bread too :) Deb -
I just made the Thumbprint cookies with my 2-year old Grand daughter. We had a blast,. It was easy, fast and they are to die for.
I will bag them up and give to the parents of my day care kids. -
Since my husband and I have NINE nieces and nephews between us, I made movie bags this year. One family had two movies, popcorn with popcorn holders (from Target for 1$!!) and some treats. We gave my brother and sister in law movie gift cards because they love going out to movies or renting them - it is a big thing in their house! So, they also got the popcorn, holders and treats. I personalized them a little. Everyone loved them! This holiday they will have board game-themed gifts! I'm excited about making them already! -
Alicia! Just saw your promo for OPRAH tomorrow!! Yahoo! Way to spread the word!! Set those DVR's... -
My favorite is great for a housewarming - I grab one of the many baskets (or go to the thrift and pick one up) line it with one of those great potato sack dish towels (those white ones that come in a pack of 20?) and then head down to the farmer's market or co-op or just the produce section and just load it up with colorful fresh veggies and a fresh loaf of bread. I don't know if it's the colors or what but you definitely know it's not going to get put in a closet or drawer and be forgotten! -
What a great idea. I made all of my presents for christmas this year. A huge hit was my homemade sugar scub. So easy to make and great for the skin. It was alllllll organ and vegan! Anyone who wants the recipe let me know!! -
Hi! To make the lemon poppyseed muffins would you use the same recipe for the lemon poppyseed loaf in your cookbook ?

Beautifully done, what a thoughtful idea! And I know, I'm about 12 yrs old right now, but it's late and "Raw Balls" made me laugh so loud I woke one of my children. So thanks for that as well : ) -

Wow what a great Idea, you are a great inspiration! Just read your book and its wonderful. I have read tons of Macro books but yours is by far on my top list. Hey have you ever eaten at Dirty Candy in the city? If so what do you think of it? Someone I know mentioned it too me and I never heard of it before. XO -

I made a dozen Lemon-Poppy Seed Poundcake muffins yesterday morning, and they were delish! I need to make another batch though, as my husband devoured all but two muffins (which were saved for me)! I skipped the glaze, and they weren't missing a thing! -
