Tired of resolutions that don't stick? Us too. So this year, we sought advice from Meghan Telpner, nutritionista extraordinaire, owner of The Love in the Kitchen Academy, and all around great gal who says things like 'superfantabulous'.
If there's one girl who knows how to set goals and stick to them, it's Meghan. Seriously. This is a woman who was diagnosed with Crohn's disease five years ago, a condition docs told her was incurable, and surgery and meds her only options. Not one to play by the rules, she reclaimed her health with yoga, meditation, acupuncture, herbal remedies and healthy eating. Five years later, Meghan remains symptom free.
So who better to set us in the right direction for 2012, right? And she's making it easier than ever to keep whole, natural, local and (most importantly) delicious vegan food on the menu with these items from her kitchen:

- Irish Moss: This superfood gives a creamy texture to smoothies and puddings and is an excellent source of sulphur compounds, protein, iodine, calcium, iron, magnesium, selenium, zinc, pectin, vitamins B and C. It eases digestive discomfort, something I think we can all appreciate this time of year.
- Milk It Kit: Sure, sounds a bit funny, but this kit makes it easy to make your own nut and seed milks right at home.
- Power Packs: Meghan's put together a few power packs to make starting 2012 on the right foot easy. Try her Smoothie Kit, Raw Living Deluxe Kit, or the Stress Buster- all of which are chock-full of great stuff.
So start 2012 off right.

I wanted to know your thoughts on Hemp Hearts? I was recently introduced to them for better digestive health.

This is so interesting. I´m really surprised that it is posible to reverse or even cure such a serious disease just by choosing a healthy lifestyle. My doctor told me, that I should go on http://juliekinnear.com/blogs/controversy-gluten-free-diet.html">Glutem Free Diet, but I´m not sure if it is a best choice for me.. What do you think?
Anyway good luck to Meghan and all of you! -
Wowza! Love this blog, Alicia - am very pleased to be included in the goodness! Ethical Ocean is a site I am proud to be involved with, too.
Noel - thanks for the kind words! Check out my blog www.meghantelpnerblog.com for more information about my healing journey, as well as my recipes and tips for whole foods for health. I also found acunpuncture to be instrumental in healing the gut - I did intensive acupunture for three months in Santa Monica along with my diet overhaul and daily yoga.

I think it's wonderful what Meghan is doing, and I'm very interested in her story. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis about 2 years ago, and my doctor has told me the same thing- that meds and surgery are my options. I've been vegan for almost a year now, but my condition has still gotten worse. I love being vegan, and I never plan to give up on it, but I have been told it won't help my condition. Does Meghan have a blog or any holistic healing tips to go along with her smoothies? Like I said, I'd love to see a more in depth story about her recovery! Thanks for the continued inspiration :)

I've been wanting my own milk kit! I'll order that, and show the outcome when I make my own almond milk with vanilla bean on my blog www.kalewithlove.blogspot.com I've SO been wanting to try that, so thanks for sharing!!
