As you know, turkeys suffer terribly at this time of year (and all year, but in greater numbers now). To combat this seasonal cruelty, Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt-a-Turkey program asks you to sponsor a turkey so they can provide it with a loving home throughout the year. Adopting a turkey is a great way to give “turkey day” a new, kind meaning.

Show your love for turkeys this year by sponsoring a turkey with Farm Sanctuary. It only costs $30 to sponsor a turkey, and you’ll get a picture of your turkey, plus information about the turkey’s rescue story. Turkey adoptions make great gifts too!
The picture above shows the turkeys that need adoption. Please help Farm Sanctuary provide loving homes for these sweet guys and gals. I’m doing it, and I hope you do too!
Adopt a turkey this Thanksgiving.
As an alternative to turkey, try some of these recipes from my Thanksgiving menu.

Thank you so much for bringing this program to my attention... I just adopted Skip, and am now just trying to decide whom I would like to adopt for the rest of the year! -
I'm going to. Poor turkeys don't deserve to be dinner... It's really sad how many turkeys die for our Thanksgiving feasts. -
pobres pavitos aqui en chilito los pollos y vacunos pasan susto en las festividades y todo para satisfacer a la gente -
Hey horseowner4life, I'm making tempeh meatloaf (Lindsay's Happy Herbivore recipe, probably on her website). I LOVE it! It's basically tempeh, onions, and oatmeal but I like to top it off with some broccoli, extra nutritional yeast, and some vegannaise... I might try Trader Joe's vegan stuffing, but this is my favorite meal anyway. -
@horseowner4life, I actually like the Tofurkey roll but know not everyone does.....but if you have never tried the Tofurkey "deli slices" you should try the turkey style ones, they are delicious. My wife and I just have "turkey (tofurkey) sandwiches" instead. In fact, we gave some unknowingly to meat eaters and they were surprised it was vegan !! -
What a great idea! Turkeys tend to frighten me but these ones look so cute with their names.

I adopted Thyme because I thought with it being the last name on the list, he/she would be neglected. :-) Looks like a petite elderly woman with a bonnet on. BTW, does anyone have a really great vegetarian turkey recipe? I've tried Tofurkey and it's terrible. Quorn's is better, but not really great. -
yes, every year!! i was even solicited by farm sanctuary and donated a piece of artwork that debuted at the animal acres celebration for the turkeys last week! -
This year, we adopted Victoria! Check out the blog post I wrote a few years ago -- that year, our adoptee was Kima :) http://bit.ly/alI7qN -
We adopted Skip last week. He's so cute. I love Farm Sanctuary
and all of the great work that they do! xo -
Thanks for the reminder! I adopted Skip....the most beautiful turkey I've ever seen! I'm so happy he'll be "skipping" the most heinous day of the year. I"ll have him in my heart and mind throughout the season which claims to be all about giving.....when it's really about taking....it's all so wrong. -
We do this every year and it makes me feel so much better about this season which I refer to as the world wide funeral for turkeys.
One day my husband and I hope to have our own farm sanctuary and we'll have "Celebration of Turkeys" day at our house for our Thanksgiving.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful program on your blog! xoxo -
One Step ahead of you dear! I adopted Gable last week and I managed to convince a few co-workers to adopt as well. In fact, one adopted Thyme because he said it was the "ugliest Turkey he had ever seen."
