and some highlights from the news in 2011:

And personally, this was a huge year for me; because I became a mommy! I can't wait to see what 2012 holds. What are you looking forward to most in the new year?

It was a huge year for you because now you're a mommy :D!!! I'm looking forward to meeting new vegans in my area. I've signed up for vegan meetups and will catch a meetup at the Seed restaurant location. It would be great to actually meet new friends through this site as well if they live in southern CA :)

Hi, and Happy New Year.
"011 was a breakthrough as I became Vegan after 33 years a Vegetarian (and at 63). I had a couple of Vegan books from years back, but really wanted to REDUCE my intake of dairy rather than give it up, but then I bought the Kind Life, and things just fell in place. Had already moved to Soy milk due to mild allergy, was somtimes using Soy cheese, but here in the UK its expensive. Have now found how to use Tofu for ommlettes, one of my difficult to give up items, Tofu scramble etc. Am using Rice Milk as well as Soy. Again more expensive than cows milk, but worth it. A lot to learn in 2012, especially getting sandwiches etc when I'm out, and I don't like tea or coffee black, so have to learn to or an easy way to carry a small bottle.
I like the look of a recipe that uses Saffron, but again, very expensive, so I'm going to look at herb alternatives in 2012.
Looking forward to the adventure in 2012.
Thanks for help in 2012.
After waiting up for several hours I missed the live chat by 5 minutes. Will join the next one and get the time difference right!
Have fun
Alan

This has been an amazing year for me as well. I really took control of my life through my health and slowly but surely it has affected other parts of my life for the positive as well. I am so thankful for all the support I receive on this site. There are so many inspiring stories and suggestions, I really feel as though I am part of a small but mighty community. I wish you all a happy and healthy new year and congrats to Alicia on becoming a new mommyl!!!!

I'm looking forward to all the VegFests that take place, taking some vacation time to visit some other parts of the country, and eating more toward the super hero diet.

It has been a great year for veganism especially in my home with a meat eater. My spouse has been learning more about the benefits of a plant-based diet through all of the info that I have been sharing on the subject including a few of the documentaries such as FOK, and the recent CNN special along with The Gerson Miracle, Food Inc., etc. He gets it and has cut way back on his usual diet of meat and dairy. That is an amazing thing to watch someone as they are processing the information and making choices is really cool.
I have been taking small steps to share it with friends and family and that has been interesting. My best outlet to share this info has been in my website, hosting a radio program and some college outreach. So I am feeling like I have stepped up to a the plate of some activism which is really empowering. Standing for what I believe has really been fullfilling knowing that the little seeds that are planted can sprout and make a difference. It takes work, commitment and passion to help make changes in this world. I am thankful for the example of Alicia, Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, Mercy for Animals, Vegan Outreach, and the multiple authors, websites, bloggers and film producers who are actively working on this mission to be a voice for the voiceless.
Kind regards,
Rhonda

Happy New Year to All! Thank you for so much information in 2011 - my goal for 2012 is to be more focused now that I have the tools. As a Newbie, I've succeeded with ending the year as a vegetarian - YAY - just need to get a better handle on my dairy fixations.
Speaking of Oprah, she has her Sunday Soul Series on her OWN network and recently featured a documentary called Crazy Sexy Cancer which spoke highly about the importance of plant based diets. As part of Oprah's Radio Series, she also featured an interview with Kathy Preston at the end...another KIND soul.
With all the KINDness & LOVE out there - 2012 is sure to be a Fantastical (fantastically magical) year! ENJOY!

It WAS a good year. Veganism is becoming more known to more people. It's funny when I mention it to some people and they hadn't ever even thought about a diet with no animal products. It was never in their conciousness. I hope to plant many more seeds in people's minds in 2012 and get the conversation going.
Best wishes to all! Especially Bear Blue, who has a very special mommy. Motherhood has changed me so much. My heart melts everytime I think of my girls, and they're 22 and 16! That's a lot of melting.
