I posted a video from the Eco Vegan Gal before and when she sent this over, I thought I’d share it too. She is adorable! Her boyfriend was sick so she has decided to make a batch of my Magical Healing Soup from The Kind Diet (page 251) to help heal their bodies and fight off illness.
If you want to be extra superhero, go easy on the shoyu - it’s not as healing when you incorporate too much salt; also the miso flavor can get lost if you add too much shoyu. Mix light and dark miso to add complexity to the flavor of your soup. When adding the miso, follow these tips to ensure the healthy enzymes in the miso stay intact:
1. Dilute 2-3 teaspoons of miso with a little bit of soup broth
2. Add the miso mixture to the soup at the end of cooking
3. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes
Remember, we get sick because of an imbalance in our bodies: too much sugar, or too much complicated food out in the world. When it’s time to heal, you want to go super clean, simple, not too spicy. Just have rice and greens steamed with light sauce, or a nourishing miso soup. Sometimes it’s hard to get used to plain and natural flavors when the tongue is used to complicated flavors…I get happy in my mouth when I've been naughty, and then when I need to go clean and simple…this soup is just what the doctor ordered!
What do you like to eat when you need to heal your body?

Love EvG! I keep up with her videos and she has some great stuff. Also, glad she is getting recognition for TKL. Good stuff here. -
This is a great question. I remember when I worked in an office being super hyper conscientious about trying to avoid co-workers who would come in sick. I had some natural cleaner that I would use to clean my desk, pens, phone, etc. I was a vegetarian health nut back then and I would skip on the muffins and donuts and bring a banana and people thought I was funny with my little health routines but I was the one that did not get sick so I continue to be proactive with my health and do what I can to avoid getting sick.
If I ever do feel that moment of something might be "buggin" me, I do a take some precautions with upping my vitamin C, D and Astragulus and take extra care in consuming healthful juices, teas and soups. And I make a point to take a little extra care of myself. Who likes to be sick? Not me. -
I love soups and stews this time of year! Today I posted a vegan soup/stew recipe round-up on my website...I can't wait to get back in the kitchen tonight and revisit some old favorites :-)

Sounds great! I'm a huge soup fan, so I'll have to make this. Like the rest of you, I hardly ever get sick. I owe it all to healthy eating, exercise, and making time for rest and relaxation. In this crazy, hectic society, it's easy to put our own needs last. I've been really focusing on living in the moment, and experiencing things to the fullest. Feels so amazing! -
I have had one flu since going vegan - this is a terrible flu season, so I guess these things happen from time to time! But still, overall, my health has been terrific. Digestive health is STELLAR!
