The beautiful Kathy Freston did a segment on "The Ellen Show" recently where she taught a family all about eating a plant-based diet.
With help from Tal Ronnen, and some yummy Gardein tacos, it seems like this family has gone vegan.
It makes me so happy when our message goes out to such a mainstream audience, and really has the power to inform people and give them another option. Yay Kathy! Yay Tal, and yay Ellen!

Just now seeing this post and I love it! Our family went vegetarian for Lent and we didn't miss meat at all. I am flirting with vegan now and so excited about the health benefits and leading a "kind" life! Thanks, Ellen, Kathy & Alicia. :-)

I watched the video and i totally agree. Veganism is taking over the world a little at a time and we need to be tolerant of ppls wishes.
My bf is a total meat-eater and thinks me being 85% vegan is crazy. I just hope thru some more education, he comes over to the veggie side as well :)

It's things like this one thing that get people interested! I love it!! I have always said, I could never be vegan, I love meat! Haha Then one night I saw Alicia Silverstone on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show and I was curious, my sister bought me the book for my birthday and I haven't looked back of been deprived of anything tasty since! :)

such a wonderful segment!! i wish everyone could see this so they can see how easy it is to make a few small changes, and go vegan!

I saw her on Oprah when I was on maternity leave with Michael Pollan. That show had to have changed lives. She is very thoughful about her lifestyle and articulate in why the vegan diet is right for her. She reminded me a little bit of Sharon Gannon and how she speaks about her vegan lifestyle.
I sent my son to school with Gardein Chicken Strips today. He loves them.

This is very cool. I love Ellen's show and I'm so happy she put this on! I didn't get a chance to watch it since I don't watch day time TV anymore (busy with the kiddies) but I will check it out online if I can. I'm so glad that so many people got to see this, everyone watches the Ellen show!

Thanks for the blog post - it reminded me to get Kathy's new book Veganist, I've almost finished The Kind Diet, so I'm up for a new vegan book to read. Any other great vegan books I need to check out?

I wish I hadn't missed the show! It's great that Kathy has gone on Oprah, The Martha Stewart Show, and Ellen to spread the news about the vegan lifestyle. And I agree with Sneaky Vegan--The Kind Life opens a world of possibilities to people who want to "flirt" with veganism.

Kathy is just a great spokesperson for veganism!
I did a post today about another cool lady. She makes The Pure Bar - gluten free, vegan, raw and great for being on the go. She's also from Michigan which is a major plus for me!

This is so awesome! I love the "Veganist" concept - such a brilliant way to make it accessible to all. I've recently been accused of being immoral for "hijacking" the name vegan for my Sneaky Vegan blog when I'm not 100% vegan, even though everything on my blog is. I try not to take it personally, but I think it's such a shame that some people focus more on their exclusive ownership of the word rather than the benefits of getting the message out to the masses no matter who is spreading the word. I really appreciate the "permission" that The Kind Life gives to be a "Flirt" and check things out at one's own pace. That's exactly this kind of acceptance and positive encouragement that makes me (and many of my readers) more open to all things vegan.
Yay Kathy and Yay Alicia!!!

I completely agree Jessica. It'd be a nice follow-up segmant and living proof that veganism works, even for a family of 4!

I hope they do a now and then with this family so we can see how their lifestyles have changed in 6 months or a year

It is so great that the vegan message is becoming much more mainstream! I love Ellen and Kathy...they are inspirational leaders within the movement.
