I know there are tons and tons of recycling programs and events throughout Los Angeles and the rest of the country.
For all of you Angelenos, there is an E-Waste Collection every second Sunday of the month at the Melrose Trading Post. And if you can't make it there, check out UCLA's recycling program.
Here are some other programs I found while researching e-waste on the web:
-Goodwill
-All City Electronics Removal
-West Coast Computer Recycler
-EZ PC Recycle
You can also check out Earth911 to find an e-waste recycling center near you.
How do you recycle your electronics?

My brother is an Industrial Designer and believes in re-purposing items that would otherwise end up in a land fill. Here's what he did with a bunch of old keyboard parts:

My old cell-phones I wipe all data off and send on to the troop programs (so many different ones to choose from - ATT has one too!), Gazelle will take used/non working electronics, and most electronic stores (bigger chains) have recycling of old/non working electronics, batteries, ink, etc if you just ask.

Thank you so much for posting this! My old TV just pooped-out on me and I didn't know what to do with it. I went onto Earth911 and I found a drop-off place right by my apartment. Thanks so much!

Ask your library what they do. Our library actually recycles batteries and my son goes through them often looking for rechargeable ones before they get taken away. It's amazing how many he can re-use that people simply tossed. (we asked first and they are FINE with his doing that.) So we win and they win!
