love the lavanilla deo! i tried the coconut one but it smells like baby powder to me (one of my most hated scents). i use the lavender one, and im thinking if i want to switch up ill try the passionfruit one soon. it doesnt work *quite* as well as old spice does for me, if i sweat or go for a walk or do anything more strenuous than hang out, i get funky fast. but it works much better than the deos ive tried from lush and better than the coconut oil based ones ive made at home. plus, application is so much easier in stick form than in powders.

Corianna -I too missed my Dove deodorant. I swear I've tried everything under the sun. I get bad razor burn (I've switched to waxing my under arms...life saver) and my skin is sensitive to a lot of the deodorants. I tried Jason and loved the way it worked, but after a week I had an irritated rash from it. I've had similar problems with Kiss My Face. I've trid Tom's and it just doesn't work for me. It just mixes with the funkyness and makes it worse.
I've used the salt deodorants, which work well for smell, but only if I let them dry completely. I'm often in too much of a rush so they aren't a good solution for me. (However when I'm feeling relaxed and have the time, I love to use it because it is SOOO effective. I can go two days w/o reapplying. )
I finally stumbled on Lavanilla deodorant and fell in love. Though pricey, it works so well I can't imagine going back. It smells good, and I can go from work to dinner w/o worrying about smelling. It also keeps me dryer than other natural deodorants. Granted it has been about 3 years since I've used Dove, I feel as if it conditions my skin as well and for the first time I don't miss it! I get it at Sephora. http://www.lavanila.com/
I have also read really good things about Soapwalla deodorant. It is hand made by somone on Etsy. I tried it, it felt good, and it really did keep me very dry BUT something about the oils used and my body chemestry created a smell that was worse than wearing nothing, so needless to say it didn't work for me. I've read reviews saying how wonderful it is, so it may work for you :) You can buy it on Etsy or at Spirity Beauty Lounge.

I have been making my own laundry soap for almost 2 years and its so easy and inexpensive. My last batch I figured out cost me 9 cents per load. Take 1 cup borax and 1 cup washing soda (not baking soda) and mix with one bar grated soap. I make mine in the food processor first grate the soap then I put on the mixing blade and add the borax/soda mix and process till all the grated soap is bead size. This batch makes me about 22 loads worth if I use one scoop ( I use the drink mix size scoops). Works in regular or high efficiency machines. Traditionally you see this with the Fels Neptha soap but I do not like that it just says fragrances and cleaners--no real info about the ingredients. I have used it with Kirk's Castile coconut oil soap when I can find it and it works great too. Hope this gives you some ideas for your oun laundry soap. Its not neccessary to make the grated soap into smaller beads, but its my preferece you can leave it in the "cheese like" strands too.

I just bought a preserve toothbrush and razor the other day from whole foods! I was wondering if anyone has some good suggestions on laundry detergents? Especially you, Alicia! I just bought 2 packs of organic cotton sheets and I dont want to wash them with toxic ingredients. Im even kinda scared of Seventh Generation because their ingredients dont seem to be any safer than All Free N Clear, which is about a fourth of the price. Help anyone! :)

I have struggled with non-aluminum deoderants too. I find that Toms of Maine just doesn't cut it even though I generally love them! I recently have been useing Kiss My Face: Liquid Rock roll-on and it has been the best non-aluminum I have had so far!

Hey Jillian, I don't know if preserve is a huge company or not, but they seem to be pretty socially and environmentally responsable. Preserve makes toothbrushes as well as razor handles that have replaceable 4 blade razor heads. Their products are all made of recycled yogurt cups and they have a programme for returning the used products so they can be reused. :-)

Brigit- I use a brand of mouthwash that I really like. Its http://organixsouth.com/theraneem/oral-care/herbal-neem-mouthwash.html. Also Im wondering has anyone come across a more kind way to deal with razors? As of right now I use Venus with the replaceable heads.. so that saves some plastic. I still wish I could find something thats recycled and not from a big company..

Corianna Yannone... I use Nature's Gate Spring Fresh deodorant and I find it very moisturising and the best one for a fresh smell with no aluminium.
Hope this helps your problem :)

I have also tried toms products and, I have to say I have liked most of them. I have never heard of this one though its seems good. I noticed there is no mouthwash listed. Can anyone reccomend a good safe, flouride free mouth wash?

Alicia I use the Environmental toothbrush... they are completely biodegradable and sustainable too! It's great as I don't feel so guilty about the amount of toothbrushes that end up sitting in landfill. You can buy them in bulk too and they are really reasonably priced.

I have some questions for all of you about deoderant. I have always been prone to very severe razor burn under my arms; the only thing that keeps it in check seems to be dove deoderants which contain aluminum products. I don't like that at all. Does anyone have any suggestion for a non-aluminum deoderant that contains a lot of moisterizers like dove does? I am anxious to find one.

I love these toothbrushes but so far they only come in kids sizes, they are made of corn starch and are compostable!!! http://www.jackandjillkids.com/product.php?prod=15 and http://www.jackandjillkids.com/product.php?prod=13

I am uncomfortable with that toothbrush company as they offer boars hair brushes. Fuschs that is. It is an ever going process to find the right brands that meet our comfort level isn't it?!?! :)

Good question - is CoQ-10 normally in this toothpaste and is it bad? I take a CoQ-10 supplement.

LOVE the Jason's Sea Fresh toothpaste, which I switched to after you had mentioned it before. I'm not sure if mine has the CoQ 10 in it, but will check. What is that, by the way?
Thank you for the other ideas as well!
