I became vegan 14 months ago when I read your book. It had a huge impact on my family. My husband is vegan as well & our 3 kids are very compassionate about animals & the earth. My 4 year old asked me this morning to throw out the cardboard from his applesauce into the recycling bin. We've grown lots of our own produce from our backyard garden. We eat as much organic as possible. The kids use containers in their lunchboxes instead of plastic. Eating kind & wise & being earth friendly is just a way of life for our family.

Those tools seem to be the most beneficical for a busy college student! I have been on and off vegetarian since high school and now going into my fifth year of college I am full vegetarian and transitioning into a vegan diet. I picked up your book at my local library and couldn't put it down! I feel so much better both mentally and physically! I have always been ecofriendly and tried my best to do whatver I could for the environment. I recently saw your post on Alima makeup, ordered some and fell in love! I will never buy my old makeup again. I have been eyeing your ecofriendly tools and have them on my wishlist for when my budget will allow me to spend some extra money. I am looking forward to learning more from your book and website everyday as I continue to transition to a vegan lifestyle! Thank you!

I love your book and this blog! After reading The Kind Diet, I became vegetarian and now I am in the process of becoming vegan. This year will be the first year that I will be making vegan-only meals in my campus apartment. I am so excited! I also walk to class and downtown instead of taking the shuttle or driving. I pack my lunch in a reusable sandwich container and reusable lunch box. I refuse to buy plastic water bottles because I know how bad they are for the environment. I use an aluminum bottle instead. I am also a member of an organization on campus that advocates for farmers markets to set up tables on campus in order for students to buy fresh produce weekly. I love that we can support the local farmers! I use makeup and hair care products that are not tested on animals. Later on in the semester, my vegan friends and I are going to take a trip to an Animal Sanctuary nearby. Thank you so much for creating this blog! It allows me to become informed about all the opportunities that are available to me to improve my health, save our environment, and help the animals. You truly are an inspiration to me.

This is so amazing - and you are so amazing! I have been so inspired over the last couple of years after investigating how and what I am feeding my child is hurting her more than helping her. I am going back to school to study agriculture and botany and since switching to vegan my 2 year old daughter stopped throwing fits and is not as grumpy and her attitude is totally different. I am still trying to convince my husband to make the switch :)

I just recently stopped eating meat! I bring my lunch in containers (even found one for my sandwich) in a reusable lunch bag. I also bring my water in a stainless steel bottle. I use my notebooks until they're absolutely finished instead of buying a new one for each class.
-
I've stop eating meat this year which I hope will contribute to a more enviorimental friendly planet. I also try making every option as friendly as posible. I buy fair trade, second hand, vintage or products that are organic. Also I want to stop using that much paper so I started wrapping gifts in newspaper and I've also used old notes from my notebook.

My first day of my first year of college marked my official switch to veganism! I've had a plant based vegetarian diet for over two years, and now just seemed right for me. So many people in my dorm are curious about my lifestle and I've been slowly educating those who are interested in what veganism means to me, and how it can make you feel. Hopefully, I won't be the only vegan in my hall by the end of this year!

I plan on making the school year eco friendly by biking to school everyday to help save the pollution!

Hey Alicia, I'm Alyssa, 20, devoted yogi, nature/animal lover, transitioning vegetarian-vegan and eco lover! I'm not sure if I would qualify for this giveaway because at the moment I am not enrolled in school. BUT- I'm working full time living at home again to get back on my feet and pay off some school debt. I do however, plan on going back to school once I pay off this debt and save up. I want to teach yoga! I'm also interested in getting an education on nutrition or something involving helping the environment, not sure on that quite yet, I'm just focusing on this moment right now. Anyhow, I thought it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot in this giveaway. I've been looking into getting your product anyway, seeing as I'm transitioning into a vegan lifestyle. To make this year the most eco friendly yet, I'm selling/donating all of non-vegan products like shoes, handbags, clothing etc. Also, I plan on recycling everything I can! The city I live in doesn't do much for the environment so I'm also thinking of going to some locations and asking them to save paper, glass and aluminum so I can not only take my stuff but their stuff to the recycling locations. I've also made a vow to conserve, conserve, conserve-water, electricity, energy etc. Along with all of these acts, I'm doing daily research on how to be more eco friendly. I ordered your book and I'm sure the tips you provide will also be very helpful! Thank you for your time, and thank you so much for providing so much wonderful information on your site, it's great! Take care, namaste :)

Hi alicia! This year I got an apartment to save money because living in the dorms is too expensive. Every week at Northeastern we have a farmer's market where you can buy organic veggies and fruit, where today I of course got plenty. I try to use organic products as much as I can with my budget. Boston is a great place to live, because you can use the public transportation, but I try and walk everywhere that I need to go.
I used to use eco-brushes made from bamboo, but I lost them, so this contest is perfect. I used to use pantene, but then I did a presentation on animal cruetly and testing, so now I use shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and face wash that do not test their products on animals. I am trying to get my roommates to use products that are less harmful to the environment as well, and I always encourage them to buy organic. We do little things like: keep all the appliances unplugged to save energy, turn off the lights when we do not need them, and don't flush the toilet after peeing. lol In the winter we try to keep the heat to a minimum and cozy up in sweatshirts and blankets, and always turn it down at night. I alwaysssss recycle, especially things people could just throw away like clothes. I give things I do not want or that don't fit to my little cousins, and made my roommate give hers to goodwill instead of throwing them out. We all save the left overs in tubberware, and I carry around a reusable water bottle with me everywhere I go, and so do my roommates.
I am excited to experiment with cooking and try some of your recipes now that I have my own place. :) -
I'd really appreciate getting all those awesome ecotools items! I've been a big fan of ecotools since reading your book and becoming a vegan over a year ago, but now as a grad student in Canada, I don't have a lot of money to spend on non-essential items!

I would love to win the ecotools!
I am already packing my daughters lunches everyday with yummy vegetarian foods. Also making my highschool son pack his lunch (don't tell him he packs vegetarian meals too). Driving less, riding the school bus more. Last of all I plan on sharing my ecotools set with my family, as much as I would love to have them I don't believe I would use all of them!

I bought containers to bring sanwiches and things that would normally be bagged, so now I can wash instead of throwing away. Reusable tote for lunch. At work I brought in a plate, bowl, and silverware so that I do not use paper everyday (though they are made from recycled products).
Signed up for online classes, so no commutting, either!

My recycling program in my town does not except glass (it's a shame). So I cart my glass to school (carefully!) where there is bin for glass to be recycled. Thankfully my school offers us recycling bins almost everywhere you turn and we even have a new recycling machine this year that scans bar codes on aluminium bottles to collect points we can use for discounts.
Love,
Sarah Fischer

Last year my son who was then 13yrs old was one of the first members to his jr high school "go-green" club. This year I have volunteered to be a staff in that club! I have set up recycling totes in my home, us recycled green bottles if we have to have bottled water and those bottles are used until they are falling apart! we also have the water bottles with filters, dont use disposable utencils or cups anymore and are trying to bake/stovetop cook rather than use the microwave.

This year, I started grad school! So I had to move, and start classes. Needless to say, I have been really busy so far; lots of work, work, work. I would love to win the back to school kit because I am a committed student and a passionate vegan

I'm 46 and going back to school to become an aesthetician and would love to share these products along with the school and classmates. Wish me luck!

I am starting a vegan society at my school this year! Also, my boyfriend and I moved into a new condo so we could be closer to our schools and we made lables for the television/dvd player/stereo plugs so we can keep them unplugged at all times!
-
I am such a minimalist because of allergies. My daughter is starting to use make up now and I don't have any to give her for trying this would be a great jump start!!
-
I use ecotools whenever I apply makeup so that can be sure that I am making a good choice for the enviornment.
I always put my empty cans and bottles in the recycling bin when I have them and I prompt others to do the same.
I use a refillable bottle from home.
I use a reusable lunchbox with glass containers and metal forks so I don't have to throw anything away.
Having this set would be perfect for the new school year and I would be super happy if I won these prizes!

When my twins were little, I brought them up vegan, like me! But by the time they got to kindergarten, they were seduced by birthday party cakes and pizza on playdates. I decided I did not want to force my choices on them, as they were already feeling left out at social events as far as their limited food choices, so I let them eat some chicken, fish and dairy when they were away from home. It did not take long for them to learn from my healthy example that a kind diet was by far the best choice to make for ourselves and our environment, and by the time they were in second grade, they were vegan by choice. Their choice. Now they are almost 12 years old and proudly bring their vegan lunches to school. Although many of their friends give them a hard time about their lifestyle, they are happy and confident in the choice that THEY MADE for themselves, and choose to live a kind life. This year we have embraced our green lifestyle even more by buying "environmentaly friendly" school supplies (Target has some GREAT ones) and even lunch bags made from bamboo. We hope to be an example to others and show them how great it is for ourselves and our world, to live a kind life.

I pack my vegan lunches in a reusable lunch bag that I got from your Open sky which I love! I also bring my re-usable filtering water bottle to school!
-
I've been using a re-usable water bottle and lunch box when on campus :) I've also been really focusing on all-natural, cruelty-free makeup, so this set would be perfect! :)

I've just started my master's degree in publishing! Being vegan is certainly helping me get through the rough patches and tiring schedule! This will by far be my most eco-friendly school year yet! All the school supplies I have purchased with either made with post-consumer materials, or I picked up secondhand. I've been buying my texts used from last year's graduates, and I either bus or ride my bike to and from the campus every day. Of course, eating and promoting a vegan diet doesn't hurt either! I'm a big promoter of Meat Free Mondays on my facebook page and in class, and took my classmates to this amazing vegan/raw restaurant half a block from school - Gorilla Foods in Vancouver, BC. In preparation for World Veg Day on October 1st I'm trying to get my vegan blog ready to launch! I am always doing my best to remind people how the best thing they can do for the planet is to just go veg!
