Today is the official first day of summer.
My day started out just right. I ate a superhero breakfast and went to yoga class, which always feels great. Yoga is my church. I feel so happy and balanced after my anusara class. The yoga instructor reminded me of how different seasons affect the body.
Summer is a season of extreme weather; it's not the ideal time for cleanses or fasting (spring and fall are better for that). Rather, it's a time to relax and enjoy your life. Get outside. And we naturally eat less during summer because it's hot. It's a good time for salads of all varieties, grain salads and bean salads included. It's a time for lighter cooking styles and times - a lighter flair to all you prepare.
Check out my blog from last year about the origin of the summer solstice.
This summer, try to do as many of your favorite activities as possible. If you like going to the beach, go as much as you can. Ride your bike as much as you can, and just do what you love to do as much as possible.
What summer activities are you looking forward to most?

Here in Northwest Arkansas I have found my peace this summer sitting on my front porch and enjoying the breeze as it passes through from time to time. -
I have to side with Lexie on this one.......although our flooding ( Thunder Bay, ON, Canada ) preceeded the solstice by a couple of weeks....our sister city to the south ( Duluth, Minn, USA ) received the brunt of the solstice with 9 inches( over 200 ml ) of rain which has caused major damage, not only to many homes but to the city's infrastructure as well. By local accounts it is the worst flooding in over forty years.

Summer is my ALL TIME favorite!! I love to be out side during the day working in my garden, yard work, taking walks with my wife. I love going to baseball games and out door concerts. Just anything so that i can be as one with nature. It's a time to eat fresh organic vegtable out of my garden or from a local out door organic vegtable markets.
I totally agree with you Alicia, spring and fall is best for cleaning your inside body and soul. when i do my daily workout and meditation,I feel ready for anything that my day brings me by eating healthy and with being as one with nature.

Glad to see Mother Nature is having fun somewhere! I'm south of the equator so I'm looking out my window and watching the skies dump a months worth of rain on my house. I have a couple of drainage points in my courtyard (a bit of a necessity when you live on a flood plain) so glad to see they are working well.
It tops of a week of Antartic winds ripping through at crazy speeds and an earthquake.
Though Melbourne is famous for having 4 seasons in a day, the old saying of "if you don't like the weather just wait 30 minutes" isn't really working out at the moment!
