Get Vegucated is a new documentary about three New Yorkers who give up their longtime love of meat and cheese to go vegan for six weeks. The film follows them as they reluctantly embark on the challenge, learn about factory farming, start to question their previous diets, and overcome their families skepticism.
If you'd like to see the film, you can host a screening or find out where you can get the DVD or attend a screening near you. Please do that I have done this before, and it's so great. Have all the people you love over and people you think would be interested or need to know this stuff. Have a great meal or just some delicious snacks, whatever you can do to make it yum. Just share.

I would like to thank you all for listing all of these various documentaries. I love to watch them to remind myself why I choose to live like I do.
I have a question and was hoping someone could help me out. We are planning a trip to Key West and I was wondering if anyone has any vegan dining suggestions.

There's a new film out that is available online for free until March 31st at midnight. http://www.hungryforchange.tv/ It's really great. Some other films I found effective were Food Inc. and Earthlings.

Forks Over Knives did it for me too. On top of feeling great, I have dropped the 25 pounds I needed to lose (since last July) which is another great benefit. I haven't watched Earthlings yet, I am not sure I can handle it, I heard it's pretty brutal. Will definitely have to see Get Vegucated.

Forks over Knives did it for me. I slowly transitioned to vegetarian and am getting stricter and stricter in my diet by dropping more and more dairy.

I am finally in a town with more access to natural foods and will be moving into an apartment soon. I'm so excited to get started upgrading my diet on the the vegetarian/vegan path. I'm looking forward to having less impact on the world and being more responsible, as well as feeling better. My current income and living situation has kept me from even trying the last half year. I'm so ready!

I highly recommend "The Journey of the Universe" produced by Drs. Mary Evelyn Tucker (Yale University) and Brian Swimme (California Institute of Integral Studies).
The film provides an overarching narrative about the earth, our place and connection with it, our relationship to Earth's creatures and processes, and the film bases this narrative on groundbreaking scientific research. The producers weave a tapestry that draws together scientific discoveries in astronomy, geology, and biology with humanistic insights concerning the nature of the universe.
If you're looking for a film that reaches across all ages - it's shown to students in high schools, screened in Universities, and recently has been airing on PBS - then this is a fabulous film. Your children will enjoy it's amazing cinematography, and your intellect will be stimulated by its thought-provoking insights.
The film is great for those looking to connect their dietary practices, like veganism and vegetarianism, to a larger story of the universe. Why do we practice the way we do? Thank you for discontinuing the steady stream of emails with links to fat/salt/sugar and processed soy laden foods. You clearly understand that health requires more than a vegan diet. The researchers you present gave up cushy/lucrative opportunities in status quo jobs in order to promote health information based upon objective and peer reviewed research. They are heros in the true sense of the word, since they have put themselves in harms way (monied food associations) so that they can provide health information that is missing from mass media.
These researchers have all survived attacks from establishment organizations. Large organizations have a huge revenue motive associated with supporting the current dysfunctional food, research, teaching, and health systems. Organization men and women shamelessly repeat self-reinforcing factoids that are supported by other large organizations with vested interests in the status quo. These factoids are usually misleading with some truth added in to give it credibility. For example "Milk is good food." Cow milk is good food if you are a calf.
Stopping health problems at the root cause (diet) will not create great wealth. Pseudo solutions to weight and health problems maintain a revolving door of government and commercial careers (processed foods, pharmacutical, research, academia).
Becoming and maintaining a vegan lifestyle does require discipline, however, there is no health downside in contrast to what we've all been taught. I have found that many younger vegans do not appreciate the health benefits of a whole plant based diet. When you are older, you begin to realize that many symptoms of aging are in reality symptoms of a bad diet.
These videos help provide exposure of some of the most important factual information. In addition to these excellent video clips, I highly recommend a DVD and book entitled "Forks Over Knives." Another excellent book is:

I saw this movie when it screened in Sacramento, and loved it.......it's a great 'starter movie' to introduce carnivorous friends to the 'radical' idea of giving up animal products, as it deals with the subject matter lightheartedly, with humor, and not too much gore.....

I just watched Hungry for Change and Dive last night. Both were very good. Dive is all about food waste. What the grocery stores throw out that could feed people. Very eye opening to say the least.

A film called "Our Daily Bread" made me go vegetarian. It's an Austrian film that explores the European way of making food and they allow much more footage of animal slaughter then we'd ever allow here. The end made me cry and I was swayed enough to vow not to put a piece of animal flesh into my mouth again!
The film "Earthlings" made me go vegan (that, and a transition in logic).
This film looks like a film I want to use for a senior paper I'm writing about which addresses vegan culture clash in a meat-and-animal-product-loving world.

Just saw "May I Be Frank". Learned about it after watching "Hungry For Change". Both great documentaries but "May I Be Frank" is one of my favorites now. Such an emotional and enlightening ride for the main character in the movie. And it's funny too! Love watching people journey into health! Check them both out.

Earthlings was the first documentary I watched and for me, it was all I needed to change my mind about the dairy and meat industry, but my husband if more factual than heart so for him Forks Over Kinves was a real eye opener, I can't wait to see this film. It just re-confirms everything I believe.

Can't wait to read your review. My husband and I are new Vegans after watching Forks over Knives...and when I say new, I mean 3 days new! Having a rough time with it. It's tough to do in the midwest. I'm going to our local co'op to search for substitutes.

I saw this movie when our local vegan group did a screening. It was good! My husband and I posted a brief review of the movie on our blog: http://www.livingplantstrong.com/2012/01/vegucated-movie-review.html. However, our favorite plant-based diet movie is still Forks over Knives. We just downloaded 'Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead' and can't wait to watch tonight! Maybe that one will make the top ten list... :)

this is so great, im off to order it, my daughter and i are vegan, but my son and husband are not. we live in Omaha, Nebraska, Beef capital midwest. yuck. i would like them to see this , so they see regular people seeing , and making a change.
