Tomorrow morning, Martha Stewart is devoting an entire episode of 'The Martha Stewart Show' to the pleasures and benefits of a vegan lifestyle! You can catch the show on the Hallmark Channel tomorrow, Wednesday, March 30th at 10am ET / 9am C or again at 2pm ET / 1pm C and the following day at 1pm ET / 12pm C.
Martha will be interviewing Farm Sanctuary's Gene Baur and cooking with Veganist author Kathy Freston and Twitter co-founder Biz Stone. They'll show how easy and delicious plant-based food is to make and eat, and Baur will talk about what 'cruelty-free' really means.
First Oprah, now Martha! This is beyond exciting! Do you plan to tune in? Set your DVRs - I can't wait to hear what you think!

The show was great, especially Gene Bauer's segment. That man is a HERO!
By the way, I saw your birthday video from Animal Acres. I loved it. Best spot to celebrate LIFE <3

I thought Martha did a great job with trying to "veganize" some recipes, it was great! However, something about Kathy just seemed strange to me, I have not read her book, so I guess I dont have much to say about her, but it seemed like she didnt share her great knowlege with the audience...I found myself saying Alicia should have done this show...Martha did great with the bars until she added honey at the end, and noone said anything about it...There were a few other things that Kathy said that I found strange, anyone else?

It was a good show & they even had the Farm Sanctuary founder on for a bit (he shared a really heartwarming story about a rescued cow). And, I got so excited to hear Martha wants to try to be vegan, too. Here's a link to videos from the vegan show.....I really want to make that Seitan Bourguignon recipe (from the Twitter co-founder)

I was there! It was a really great show. However, the ladies I sat next to agreed with the side that believes that honey is not vegan and we were all a little surprised that Kathy did not say anything about it. (Or that she thought that nuts were fat free, but we chalked that up to perhaps nerves.)After the show, Martha did a short Q&A session and she said that she has stopped eating beef and that her magazine or books or shows have never featured a veal recipe. I thought that was great and what a great start! :)

I'm a day late!! She posts the episodes up after they are aired for one day and I missed it! Anyone have a link? I'm relentlessly searching online and I've got nothing... :( I'm very curious to see her episode. I know a lot of my Vegan friends were very upset with Oprah's episode.

Let's hope that MS does a better job than Oprah did...veganism is not healthy if you are eating only the processed vegan foods.
From the Healthy Librarian's blog "Jeff had been a vegan for 13 years before he got the surprise of his life. Hey, we all know that not all vegan diets are the same. You can eat a heart-attack proof high-nutrient no-oil plant-based diet. Or you can load your shopping cart with Daiya (vegan) cheese, Earth Balance margarine, Amy's Frozen Dinners, Veganaise (vegan mayo), French fries, and faux fatty vegan "meats".
If any of you caught Kathy Freston on Oprah's "Let's Get Healthy & Go Vegan" show that aired on February 7, 2011.... you'll know why that show was so frustrating for me. If the point of her vegan challenge is to promote a vegan diet for ethical reasons, OK, eat fake or fatty foods---but don't go on national television & let people think that Kathy Freston's version of vegan is the way to superior health. It's not! Check out Kathy's "Helpful" Shopping List here and you'll see what I mean. This is how I used to eat--and I never lost a pound, & my lipids didn't improve."

I just watched it and have to say I liked Martha's vegan show much more than Oprah's. But, either way, I'm glad they're getting the word out about veganism.

Thanks for the heads up on this. Yes, I think I remember something about her daughter being vegetarian, so I would assume MS would present the topic in a more complete way than Oprah did & more from the vegan's perspective. I hope there's recipes, too!

I just started reading the Veganist!!!!Really Good book! Hopefully the segment will show up on Hulu later!!!! Hurray!

Darn, we don't have cable so I can't watch the show. But I'm glad she is doing a vegan show! Very exciting :)

I've got my DVR set! Can't wait! I think her daughter, Alexis, is a vegetarian. Alexis makes some really great veggie dishes on her blog.

I just read Melyssa's comment, Alicia. You're pregnant? Congrats! (If you said in a previous post, sorry I guess I missed it)
May you have a very empowering birth!

@ AC DF - i just found this video this morning and, while i don't like that he uses the term "hate" to describe what he implies is all non-vegans' feelings toward vegans, it did make me feel a lot better about the reasoning people have for their outright dislike for people who follow the vegan diet. i hope this video helps more of you out there, since it really can be difficult to deal with.

and i want to say, i am SO excited for MS's vegan show...so many women out there respect her (and Oprah's) opinion; so to have these shows dedicated to veganism is a huge step in the right direction!! :)

i can't wait.. i have a feeling this will be what the Oprah show could have been, they'll do it right
