This was taken at Coachalla just a few weeks ago.

Most of these photos were taken when Bear was about six months old and he was chewing on everything as you can see in the top left photo with the tooth brush in his mouth and the bottom with the tv remote. The most recent picture is the top middle where Bear is chewing on an icicle, taken about two months ago when he was ten months old.
Of course, I have my mom to thank for imparting her kind values to me at an early age, with her love of animals and her eco-conscious habits (see my post about how she squeezes the last drop out of every beauty product...go Mom!). My mom is also the inspiration for the English brunch recipe on page 198 in The Kind Diet.
Get the recipe here and make your mom breakfast in bed this year!

Hi Alicia! You are truly inspirational. I love your website, and that you post "real" photos, and talk about real things. I feel like I'm catching up with a friend every time I browse what's new on here. So much so, that I saw your photo somewhere (I think a site showing you on the red carpet) and thought how'd she get to attend that? Then I remembered that you are Alicia Silverstone. Haha. Thank you though, for keeping it real with us. Your baby is gorgeous, and not having a baby of my own, yet, I love the updates!
I just wanted to share something...and I'll get down to it. You mentioned "The Business of Being Born". I had never heard of it until a couple of years ago. My best friend had me watch it, because it totally changed her views. She then struck out on a mission. She visited a midwife, lost 60 pounds for a safe home birth, and then her and her husband conceived. Her baby boy was born just a week and a half ago, healthy and beautiful. Interestingly enough, the midwives did not make it in time. Her husband handled it just fine. They are living proof that it can happen, and our bodies truly know what to do if we let them. (I'm not saying medical attention is never neccesary...just not always)
Thanks for your mothers day ideas. I intend to honor every mother in my life...not just my own! :)

First of all, your baby is so cute and you can see that he is one happy little guy.
Secondly, for mother's day this year, My mom is a fellow kind-lifer and she asked that everyone in our family watch Food Matters and Forks Over Knives. I spent this past Sunday morning watching both of them. It was a great way to start out a new week. I thought it was a great gift idea too. Pass it along. Knowledge is power.
Be kind.
