For years, I have dreamed of inviting a large group of people who are not veggie, and who have never been around farm animals, to a sanctuary for a fun get-together and yummy food. I did this for my 25th birthday, and here we are 9 years later!

In the video you'll notice how surprised I was at how huge the cows were! They were literally the size of horses... I'd never seen cows that big in my life, and I have seen some cows in my day... These guys were amazingly big!

This year, I had a post-birthday celebration (about a month after my real b-day) at Animal Acres, a wonderful sanctuary just 45 minutes outside of Los Angeles, in Acton, California. There were so many adorable animals and great people at my birthday shindig, so I'm sharing all my pictures in a series of blogs – this is just part one!

First of all, Belated birthday wishes to you alicia. You look fabulous on the video. It remains me of my child hood days once when my grandmother got fresh milk from the cow and asked me to drink after heating it up. There is a huge difference between the fresh and pure milk from the cow and the one we buying . I mean its taste and quality. Try it once. Lovely to watch you with the band. Very cool. I also like the crazy kid dancing at the end of the video.
I love music. It does'nt matter what genre it is. I like Hiphop, RNB, metal, rock, classic, folk, etc. It depends upon the mood and situation iam in. Do i sound like a director? lol. Will you hold me the same way if i was a guitar? lol.

What a lovely video. I love seeing farmed animals happy for a change. It's so nice to see LIFE!
I don't understand why people find it so normal to kill or abuse them. I really hope one day humanity will understand the animals lives dont' belong to us and I hope one day any kind of animal exploitation will be considered a crime.

Happy Belated BD Alicia! You are terrific! If the animals could speak they would all say, "Thank you so much for all you've done for us!!!". Just wish there were alot more compassionate people like you on this planet of ours... :)
btw..as a vegan who has 2 cats, and 2 dogs...I was wondering if you had any suggestions on tasty vegan food for my beloved pets. The humane society puts out a great vegan dry dog food called, Humane Choice...but have yet to see any vegan canned food for dogs..I've tried vegan cat food...but still worry about them getting the proper vitamins..

LUCKY!!!!! It was my birthday too and Im jealous that yours was much better! I recommend your book all of the time and am so inspired by your commitment to the kind life. You have really stuck with this unlike so many trendy hollywood people. You can see the deep connection you have to animals in these pictures.

Happy birthday & what an excellent party Alicia , the snow & cold has been so severe in the UK that we have had a baby fox coming into our lounge and in our garden we have a squirrel & a variety of birds that have adopted us and we give them seeds, nuts and bread. That is a perfect birthday idea. I live close to a donkey sanctuary in Ontario, Canada. I didn't get there before it closed for the season so I think I will plan that for my 45th birthday in May. Thanks for the great idea! I love your book, your website and I love eating a vegan diet! THANK YOU for keeping me so well informed.

Happy belated birthday Alicia! This is so great! Ever since I quit eating meat/dairy I have been wanting to go to a farm to pet the cows and pigs just like this. Fun!

A few months ago, I took my little 3 year old son, Raurie, to a farm animal sanctuary. He fell completely in love with a little white pygmie goat named Amber. He was trying to figure out how he could smuggle her home under his t-shirt. It was very cute! He's still desperate to adopt one!
They also had a beautiful, shaggy little highland bull named Rocky. He seemed to enjoy snuggling up against people, leaning his weight into your side. He was so adorable! But all of his enthusiastic cuddling just about bowled me over, which isn't easy to do, seeing as I'm 6 ft. 2 in. tall!
It was a wonderful experience, one which we will hopefully get to repeat every summer. Thanks, Alicia, for reminding me of a wonderful summer afternoon...especially as I sit huddled at my office desk, trying to stay warm in the Denver winter weather. Happy Belated Birthday, may this next year see your fondest wishes come true.

This is fabulous Alicia....I have been wanting to do something like this with children for years to give them a chance to see animals in a light they have never seen them before...This would allow them to make their own decisions about what they want to put into their body instead of blindly following their parents belief systems...Happy Belated Birthday... :)
