This mulled wine recipe from my book is such a great holiday treat! It's organic and sulfate-free.
Warm Spicy Wine
Serves 8-12
Ingredients
- 1 bottle sulfate-free, organic red wine
- 1 cup Madeira (optional)
- 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (optional - makes it great though)
- 1/4 – 1/2 cup maple syrup - you can use less and it's still great!
- 5 whole white cardamom pods, cracked (optional)
- 2 whole cloves
- 1 4" cinnamon stick
- 2 slices fresh or dried orange with peel (optional)
Steps
- Combine all the ingredients in a large stainless steel saucepan, and heat slowly over low heat without boiling
- Strain, and serve immediately
- For a stronger flavor, turn off the heat, cover, and let the spices steep for several hours or overnight.
- Strain and reheat gently.
What is your favorite holiday beverage?

the silk vegan eggnog actually doesn't have a lot of calories especially when u compare it to the real stuff. Its 90 calories per serving-no biggie for a holiday favorite. Its sooooo good and it definitely made my holiday season complete! Super Yummy and you should definitley try it!

Yeah, I haven't tried vegan eggnog. Silk makes one, but it's loaded with calories and I don't much crave thick creamy beverages anymore.

You folkies need to try glögg. It is a warm n spicy wine drink very popular up here in Scandinavia. Rasins and almonds are added to individual glasses. Let them steep before spooning them out! Very exciting:) There are so many varieties here that there are testing contests for the years best!
Of course these drinks can be enhanced with various other additives such as conac or rum.....
BTW, vegan eggnog? How the heck could that be accomplished?

Used to love a local dairy's eggnog with brandy...ah but some traditions must change! I love spiced organic apple cider as I am not much on sweet wines.
Thank you for all of your amazing posts and your inspiration! I have found that I have fallen off the vegan wagon with a big SPLAT this season...time to crawl back on!
Merry Christmas to all!!

Hello Alicia, I discovered your book in the library where I work and loved it so much I asked for a copy of my own for Christmas which I was very lucky to get off my sister. I have been vegan for 7 years but have always strived to gain optimum health so i'm feeling very excited to start the superhero diet as I think this will help me to accomplish this goal, the recipes in your book look so exciting and tasty I can't wait to get cooking and eating them. I think best of all your book is just perfect for converting more people to vegan it is so packed with information and personal insights into veganism, it's just wonderful, I feel like I want to force everyone I know to read it! So thanks very much for your book and keep up the good work, oh and Happy Christmas : )

Hello Alicia, today I am listening to Prince's Purple Rain and drinking Champagne... its freezing in the UK today is between -2 and -6C and the snow still has not melted...this week I have tried Stella McCarthy's vegetarian sausages and they taste better than boerewors...enjoy your day :)

Mmm that sounds delicious and cozy. I usually just like a plain old white wine like chardonnay.
I just finished reading your book a second time and I plan to dedicate myself to the "kind lifestyle" in the new year. Your book has been really motivating to me and has opened my eyes to a lot of things. It makes me just want to scream it to everyone around me!
You should come out with a cook book with even more recipes. The ones I've tried so far I have loved. Thank you and Merry Christmas Alicia!
