Some of you may have noticed that the New York Times posted a gorgeous interactive feature of vegetarian recipes this past Thanksgiving. While not all of the recipes are dairy-free, there are some yummy vegan recipes in the mix. The Maple Roasted Brussels Sprouts look very tasty, as does the Tempeh and Wild Mushroom Fricasse.

I love that a publication as gourmet as the NY Times gave such a great nod to delicious veg food at a time like Thanksgiving. I think it says a lot about eating trends and the times we live in. So many people are checking out this whole plant-based world - we've almost gone mainstream! At least we've been there for a minute or so - I mean Bill Clinton is vegan now! It's all very exciting. Here's hoping the NY Times will keep it up!
Have any of you tried any of these recipes? How are they?

I loooove brussels sprouts... I posted a really classic French-ish version with Earth Balance and breadcrumbs recently on my blog (at www.theveganhomechef.blogspot.com), but I can't wait to try the maple ones! YUM!

I made the brussel sprouts, they were absolutly AMAZING. I like adding a little toasted walnuts in there as well. Yummy!

So, I made the maple brussels sprouts on Christmas and they were the shiz.....and a total no-brainer, which is good for moi. The wild rice stuffing from a previous post rocked too! I just used the red rice I had in the cupboard and it added a great texture. What can I say? I'm in love with feeding amazingly delicious dishes to my boyfriend who is flirting with vegetarianism. I WILL bring him over to the 'light side'. It's just a matter of time!!!!! (insert maniacal laugh here) Thank you Alicia!!!! :)

That is so exciting! I am for sure going to try some of those recipes. I'm really loving the Harvest-Stuffed Portobello Muchrooms. That looks like something I could most definitely live on! Happy cooking, everyone!

and as a side not (sorry) i personally think it has become very mainstream.. wether is vegetarian or vegan it seems like a lot more celebrities have made the move, therefore influencing soo many individuals! My personal favorite, Ellen DeGeneres, had a cook on her show the other day baking vegan cookies with vegan cream cheese frosting!! yummy!!

I made the brussel sprouts as part of my Thanksgiving menu. I also made PETA's harvest nut loaf and vegan gravy...among other things. Even the non-Vegans gave a Vegan Thanksgiving (as my brother's fiance said) two thumbs up. I'm still creating my Christmas menu. If there are any amazing dishes I should try, let me know everyone!

I'm a new vegan (it's only been 1 week! feeling better than I ever have in my whole life!) I am so excited to see all the delicious looking vegan recipes out there. I will definitely be making these 2 recipes. and I didn't know Bill Clinton was a vegan now! Pretty cool.

I also made Chef Chloe's brussels sprouts just last night, they are soooo good! Tonight I am making Alicia's Chocolate peanut butter cups for a Christmas party. It's so fun to wow people with the good stuff!

I made the brussels sprouts for THanksgiving along with 2 other recipes featured in the NYT by Chef Chloe: the chocolate pumpkin bread pudding, and the harvest stuffed portobella mushrooms. It was an amazing feast!

I've been making a bunch of the recipes in the "Recipes for Health" section of the NY Times. Many are EASY to make vegan (earth balance for the butter, egg sub for the eggs etc.). They have been quite tasty and the site is nicely indexed by ingredient. You can see the latest one I did on my blog:
www.vocalvegan.com
I created the Quinoa stir fry from their version with fish oil. It's delish!

My aunt saw this article (she's not vegetarian or vegan) and cooked BOTH dishes (so I would have something to eat at our family gathering) and we both loved them!!! The brussel sprouts were gone SO fast. =)

This was my first Thanksgiving as a vegan and my parents were very accepting of my new diet as long as they could have thier turkey. I ended up making a few of these dishes this year after seeing the gorgeous pictures on that website. I veganized the Brioche Stuffing with Chestnuts and Figs, the Maple Roasted Brussel Sprouts, and the Winter Squash with Carmelized Onions. They were amazing! I will second the comment about this recipe making me love brussel spouts!

"...we've almost gone mainstream!" How wonderful. And looking at these awesome recipes, it's no wonder. Like Lorrie, I've never liked Brussels sprouts, but with her recommendation and the delicious-looking photograph, I'm going to try them!

I bookmarked this immediately before Thanksgiving and have tried quite a few of the recipes. They've been a huge hit! The maple Brussels sprouts are absolutely AMAZING! I detested Brussels sprouts before I tried these. Now I'm using them in everything. :-)
