I really like Adele. I saw her at the Hollywood Bowl a long time ago - she gave such a great concert!

I think it's a very good cover - shows how tallented Celine is as well.
Don't forget it is quite difficult to sing a song that was not custom-written to your own voice.

Although, I do want to add that I don't think you have to have written a song to bring out the real emotion of it. (I take "natural woman" that was made famous by Aretha Franklin as an example. She didn't write that... I don't think anyone would argue that she performed it amazingly).

I've never been a Celine Dion fan. (I don't like the style of music she sings, even though I recognize what a powerful voice she has). I love Adele, and I actually think Celine did a very good job. If she performed more music like this, I think I might actually like her. I don't think it compares with Adele, though (for the other reasons already mentioned... Adele brings a raw emotion to this song that I think can only come from having lived the feeling of it).

Even though i'm not a huge Celine fan and prefer Adele's version, i did think she pulled it off pretty well.

This is not even a contest. Adele is so unique and as others have said she wrote this song and the entire album based on her personal experience so of course when she sings it there is more genuine feeling behind it. I am not a Celine Dion fan although I do see why people enjoy hearing her sing...but this song did not suit her.

Adele's version is much more heartfelt. Celine has a perfect voice and can sing any song but Adele's version wins.

OMG definitely riding the coattails of Adele. Celine had her time, she should back off! Adele does sing it with more emotion because she wrote it.

I'm not a Celine Dion fan, but, even though this version is poorly recorded, you just know she's got the voice to pull it off. If anything, it's good of her to pay the compliment to a talented new artist. I certainly doubt she can top Adele's version, though!

I like it! I love Celine, one of the 10 greatest female vocalists of all time in my opinion. No she's not Adele so it isn't the exactly the same but it is awesome! This is a very hard song to sing. I've heard tons of covers and only found a 14 year old girl from France's talent show do as good as Adele & Celine :)

I am not a celine fan...but I liked it. I mean not even Adel live sounds as good as she does in her studio version.

Dislike. I agree with a pervious poster, the original artist sang from the heart, from experience, the emotion is missing from Celine's version. Celine has a powerful voice, but it's not that deep soulful bring-you-to-tears kind that makes Adele's so special.

Celine freaks me out, something about her feels so synthetic. Have you seen her house? And this cover is more of the same, she's parroting...great parrot, but still a parrot.

It's odd to hear big-name divas covering each other's signature songs. If Celine's not bringing anything new to the number, it just seems like a poor attempt to grab a little of Adele's thunder. Boy, that sounds cynical.

I totally agree with Chris' take on this. Have you ever heard John Mayer cover Jimi Hendrix in concert? AMAZING!

Adele's songs come from a place of real life and you can hear it in her voice. Someone like Celene covering it just wont add that extra spark and it sounds like adults (and children) can hear it! Had Celene done something else with the song (maybe had the musicians stop completely and her sing or changed a few things that are specifically her signature style) maybe it would have had that extra spark, not an attempt at simple karoke! One of favorite singers is Chris Cornell from Soundgarden and when someone tries to sing one of his songs, same thing happens - just not the same!

Just my two cents but you are comparing a polished studio track vs. an iPhone bootleg at a concert where there is distortion etc. Additionally, artists may never intend to release it officially, they just love music. U2 is one of my favourite bands and I have a bootleg of 30 different cover songs, the are always covering songs live in concert that never appear on CD.

Okay, just have to add this here. Was listening to Celine's version with my two girls, ages 6 and 8, in the room and afterwords my 6 year old asked "why does she sound so bad?" She of course was thinking that it was Adele since her album 21 has been on heavy rotation in our house lately. My 8 year old added "she sounds like she's screaming." So there are two more no votes for Celine's verion.

Not a big fan of Celine and not a big fan of her version. Celine does have a powerful voice but Adele just has so much more emotion in her voice and version.

Don't think Celine should have covered perfection either - Celine is perfection in her on way, but should not have covered Adele. Adele's version sends me a stronger message too.
