I love, love, love my Simple Shoes (pictured above)!! They are eco-friendly and the most comfy shoes ever. I have to say that I'm so excited, as I've been on the hunt for cute New York walking shoes for years!! And I had resigned to wearing tennis shoes, which I liked for comfort, but they were never quite what I wanted style-wise... they would kinda wreck my cute outfit, ya know?
I was recently in this great store in New York called Sustainable NYC and happened to stumble upon these shoes by Simple. I am so happy with them, they feel like I'm wearing slippers! Comfy, cute, and eco walking shoes! Yahooo!
Now I know that Simple does make shoes that are leather and suede, but they also have many shoes and a few bags that are vegan and eco-friendly, like the ones I got. See their vegan-friendly line here. Mine are made out of hemp, organic cotton, cork, partially recycled car tires and bamboo. How great is that? And most of Simple's shoes are made out of natural or recycled materials because they are really big into making sustainable shoes. Check out all these materials that Simple uses in their designs.
I would love to see Simple Shoes stop using animal products all together. Maybe if we all bugged Simple Shoes, and told them how much we love their shoes, and how much cooler their company would be, and how much MORE we would love their shoes, if they stopped using new leather they might listen! You can contact them HERE.
And I want to repeat that even though the whole Simple Shoes company isn't vegan, the shoes that I have and love ARE vegan, eco, comfy, and groovy!
What are some your favorite vegan and eco-friendly shoes?

Just ordered these. I found them on www.6pm.com for $63.50. Way cheaper than on Amazon. I cannot wait to get them. I love Simple shoes.

I finally got these boots! They are so comfortable, I've been wearing them every day and feel so great about it. I love that you can make them short or tall. The only problem is that my socks are covered with black stuff every time I take my foot out-- has this happened to anyone else?
Fantastic looking and feeling though! -
I love soft star shoes. www.softstarshoes.com. They are handmage in Oregan and they have custom made vegan options.
AWESOME!

I contacted Simple a couple of months ago with exactly the kind of message you'e described...it was super-brief, I think something like, 'I love Simple for the style and for the mentality -- please offer more vegan products!'
I got a response back saying that my comment was being 'elevated to the appropriate parties' and since then, nada. :[ -
I ordered one, was told they were out...ordered again from another company...and now somehow, I am winding up with two. So, if anyone out there wants a brand new size 7 in black, please let me know within the next week. Otherwise, I will send it back as they have a good return policy and Lord knows, I don't need TWO pair!!!! FYI, I do love them, super comfy, and ordered a half size larger...and it fits perfectly!!!!
Feels GREAT to wear some super cute boots that a cow did not have to suffer and die for. -
Zoe & Zac! Their whole line is vegan. Plus they're an eco-friendly company. The shoes are so cute and very affordable at Payless. I generally avoid big chain stores but I make an exception for Payless because they have so many vegan options. I'm a dogwalker in NYC so I go through a LOT of shoes and I was thrilled when I found this brand. -
So funny that you just posted this as I just discovered Simple Shoes myself the other day. I bought my daughter the smallest pair they sell and they are UHdorable! They're denim lace ups and the laces are elastic with a little toggle. Too cute. I'm definitely getting myself the hemp flip flops for the summer and maybe also the keds-ish ones too. They'll be super cute with denim rolled up shorts! -

Cowjonesindustrials.com (a vegan boutique in Chatham, NY) carries a nice selection of shoes, bags, and awesome clothes. My husband and I accidently spent a lot of money there recently. Didn't do much for our wallets but we're really happy with our purchases. Only wish it was a little closer to where we live. -
vegan more than...not; and finding it easier given online recipe access; love the concept and health benefits ( I feel GRRRREAT!!!); really love getting inspiration from others via "the kind life"; wanna know....how do you dress vegan w/o purchasing plastic? Checked out "Simple" shoes and have to admit, I like! But I am NOT a fan of plastic and continually seek to eliminate it from my purchases. It's not an easy task, though. I know the plastic/rubber in these shoes is recycled, but...it's still plastic/rubber. How do you get rid of plastic and what to you do with it (other than recycle and feed the machine) when you need to get rid of it?

My faves - Vans 106 SF. They even make them in hemp! Check them out here (shameless blog plug alert): http://vegankicks.com/2010/03/vans-106-sf/ -
Rocket Dog http://www.rocketdog.com/ and Blowfish http://www.blowfishshoes.com/ are also footwear companies with vegan-friendly footwear options.
I have a pair of canvas Blowfish ankle booties and they're so comfy and versatile and I feel stealthy like a ninja in them.
I live in Vancouver, Canada so it's liquid sunshine year-round, so luckily, I have my enviable rubber Chooka rain boots--they're lined inside so my feet stay dry and warm. The only thing is, they're bigger and grander, and therefore lack the ninja stealth feature my Blowfishes have. Check out these gorgeous rain boots http://www.chookaboot.com/. -

I stumbled upon the Simple shoes website the other day while searching for vegan clothing and shoe companies....they have some really cute sneaks and flip flops too. -
I just ordered a pair!!! I'm so excited to get them!!! Thanks for the tip Alicia!! I will feel so good to own a "vegan" pair of boots. I have so many that are leather, and it makes me sick now to think of the poor cows that suffered to make them. -
If any of you ladies are a size 7 or 7.5 and are ok with the eco-friendly beeswax coating then this website is selling the boots Alicia pictured for 1/2 off. $59.99 instead of $120!

I noticed that these are described as "beeswax coated". I'm trying to be so careful with my purchases...and shopping for vegan wear is new to me. Are these considered vegan or just eco-friendly? -
I have a pair of Simple flats and I LOVE them! They go with every outfit, can be dressed up or down, and are super comfortable. I would recommend people order about half a size larger than they normally wear, since Simple shoes run just a little bit small. -
i find most of my favorite shoes on modcloth.com. not everything they sell is vegan, but they do make it clear when they are! -
