Kind Lifer Kate stopped taking her prescription medications and is healing her body with a kind diet.
"I have tried a vegetarian diet on and off again for years, starting in college. It wasn't until I read Alicia's book, and was urged by my homeopath to consider a plant-based diet that I really noticed changes that convinced me to make this a permanent change. I have had a digestive disorder for 20+ years, been through countless diagnostic procedures, surgeries, and diagnosis. Since changing my diet, I have stopped taking five prescription medications, and have reduced an OTC medication from five a day to one every other day or so. The more I do, the better I feel with my digestive system, and countless other ways I didn't expect! Reading Alicia's book allowed me to shift through the adjustment phase without giving up. Thank you for this new lease on life!"
Congrats Kate, and thanks for sharing your story!

I appreciate all the comments and stories some of you shared, sorry I missed the conversation. I was gone for awhile and just came back to the site. Looking forward to interacting on here more again! -
I suffered for well over 10 years with full blown Crohn's Disease in my upper GI Tract (small intestine).
I literally died in a ambulance from vomiting to death. Fortunately the EMT's jump-started my heart, thus this comment.
You can read my story at. . . .
http://www.curecrohnsdisease.net
After I got the vomiting to stop, me and my family immediately just went totally Vegan, and stopped completely eating any animal foods.
Within the first year a wonderful change in my health happened and I knew I was doing the right thing.
Now seven years later, I am in full health and completely DESTROYED Crohn's Disease and with no surgery or prescription drugs either.
I used Power4 which is a concentrated high antioxidant juice combination of Noni, Goji, Mangosteen and Acai juices and I used Sovereign Silver to help boost and strenghthen my immune system which was so bad before.
I am never sick with colds or flu ever again. No more flare ups or stomach aches either.
The power of this diet is very ancient. It is also known as the Edenic Diet recorded in the Bible in Genesis 1:29. . . .
"And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be FOR MEAT."
In other words, PLANT foods were originally supposed to be our meat. Not animal meats.
This I have come to learn is the original diet that the GOD of Heaven and Earth designed for our bodies to give us the best health.
Unfortunately, some people just do not want to follow directions from the Master Physician who knows everything about the correct function of the human body, for he created it.
I paid a big price for not doing so. But His great mercy brought me back to health to tell others His recommendation for this diet.
It is my hope and sincere prayer that all people will have a chance to switch to this diet and grab hold of the health they deserve to have. -
Hi Peggy. The DRs told me the basic stuff: stay away from citrus, alcohol and fried foods. The problem was I didn't consume much -if any of these things. Here's what I've learned from my experience and research:
Cut out acidic foods including; citrus, tomatoes or marinara sauce, use alcohol sparingly if at all, chocolate and, caffeine too. Its an elimination diet. Once you've cut out the known triggers as mentioned above then add foods carefully to your menu and journal what you eat so you can identify the trigger foods.
Eat smaller meals more often as oppose to three large meals per day. Try not to eat late at night. They say to allow 2-3 hours to digest food before bed. Sleeping elevated helps too. I realize you may know some of this already but I'm putting it out there anyway. Google GERD diet and GERD Triggers and Foods to avoid with GERD. I found a list of foods that was helpful but I can't recall which sites I found them at.
I too take medication. But, I'm definitely getting better. Red meat is really bad on the stomach. I think you said you were vegan, but, I can't recall. Please be sure to get your nutrients. My GERD led to a host of health problems due to poor nutrition. If u have GERD, the odds are your body is not able to absorb all of the nutrients you put into it. I found that an Asian diet worked best with GERD as long as you're getting your vitamins and nutrients. Also, managing stress and excercise may help as long as you don't put direct pressure on your stomach and accupuncture works too. The hardest part: patience. It's been tough and its a lot of work. I try to stick with a clean eating diet. I hope this helps some. And I hope it makes sense as My brain is fried right now. Regarding your DR not discussing diet with you, I'm baffled by this because even if diet isn't the cause of your GERD, it plays a huge role in managing GERD. Good luck! -
April, what did the dr. tell you to eat for GERD? I have that and my dr. put me on a pill and never even asked me about my diet. -
What is a homeopath, a nutrition dr.? I think I need one. I have fibromyalgia and am in pain 24/7. I have done everything the dr.s told me to for 22 years and I am still in terrible pain. Now I am becoming a vegan and I don't know if that will help, but I do have more energy, feel better, and feel kinder. Any ideas are welcome. Congrats on your success!!-
It's a type of Alternative Therapy, originating long before Western Medicine. It works on the premise of "like treats like" so you get a highly diluted Remedy of what is making you sick to boost the immune system, thus treating the source of the problem, not masking the symptoms. My homeopath requires you to read "Homeopathy, Beyond Flat Earth Medicine" prior to seeing her, I learned a great deal from it, easy read and not a long book.

I am impressed by what I'm reading here and want to congratulate all of you on your health success. I'm wondering if you guys could help me understand Macro Diet. I'm currently struggling with GERD so what I can eat is very limited for now and I miss my green smoothies, but until I'm better I have to take it very carefully. Understanding Macro Diet would help I think. -
Congrats Katie!!!
I had Crohns for half my life and changed to a vegan Macro diet in Febraury 2011.
I am no longer on any medication, and I have been in remission since 02/2011.
Feel 100% better and just finished my first half Marathon and first triathlon this year!
I have my health and life back again thanks to the change of diet and stress reduction!

Thanks for the clarification, Kate. I am glad you are doing so well. I have been vegan for 5 years and have some new digestive issues mysef that I am just starting to get tested for. Very frustrating to say the least.

OTC means "over the counter" I think. I love these kind of stories. It really makes you want to stay Kind and go veg!

I love to hear stories like this. Unfortunately where I'm from most people I know who embrace a kind life are made fun of and left out of social gatherings due to people's misunderstandings and lack of education. It saddens me because the people who ridicule are generally dependent upon medications - often several - just to make it through the day. My husband and I try to help those we know, but tends to fall on deaf ears most of the time. I know and have seen the results of a kind life diet and it brings me absolute joy to hear the story of another person who has opened their heart and mind and in turn saved themselves from dependency on pharmaceuticals.
Bravo Kate!
