Now here's an exciting idea - it's called The Urban Hotel. It doesn't exist yet, but designers Lo Li-Te, Tai-Yen Lee, Cheng-Yu, Tsai Zong-Huei & Hsu Song-Jung Chen have come up with a pretty brilliant idea for the hotel of the future. It's powered by solar energy and features rainwater recycling.

Also, each room comes with a bike. Guests would be able to use the bike to get around or as an exercise bike that stores kinetic energy to power small gadgets and lights in the hotel room. The bike would create energy savings that could be applied to the room rental fee, so by saving energy, you'd be saving money too. I love that!

What do you think, is this the hotel of the future? What great, beautiful eco hotels have you been to that we all need to know about?

love this!! Dharma Blue has a good point on a family version, too! I'd love to see this catch on in the traveling industry.

It would be awesome to be able to lower room costs by making your own energy. Being able to control room costs is good for bugeting travellers.

I would love that hotel! And ya get bored you just bike your cost down a bit, lol. That's awesome! Of course, it didn't mention the cost so if it's one of those "built for the rich" places, I'm out,lol

I'd love to stay in one of these. Even better if they had a little area with benches, maybe even a screened community porch, so you could get out of your room and meet other travelers.

WOW !!! I love the Idea of this Hotel, But i am like Ty-K Berry, it depends on the cost to stay there. Hopefully with this new concept for Hotels maybe if others (Hotels) would go with this idea, than maybe the price would come down. Just think of the money that they would save in haveing Hotels save energy and inviroment, in the long run make money as well.

I really appreciate designs like these that are asthetically beautiful, space efficient, and of course doing good for the environment.
It reminded me of the capsule hotels in Japan! I'd much rather stay at the Urban Hotel though...
