I love Jason Sea Fresh toothpaste. But I know that the Weleda Salt Toothpaste is the superhero way to go, so I use that one sometimes too.
I usually use the Weleda one at night. It's not as fun or yummie as the Jason toothpaste, but it has cleaner ingredients. So give it a try if you are looking for superhero toothpaste.... Just don't be surprised if it slightly grosses you out...but only slightly as it's just the taste of salt.
Do any of you use this toothpaste?

I use Vicco Ayurvedic toothpaste. I really like it because its not sweet and minty which is what I grew up using but now I think its really weird. Has a great astringent taste, my ayurvedic practicioner recommended it to me, she also told me about weleda deodorant, which I use so maybe I'll try this toothpaste next.

To be as clean and healthy as possible, just use sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). You can add peppermint oil if you want to, but eventually, you get used to the taste. Better for your wallet, you, and the environment!

I've just started using this toothbrush:
Eco-friendly, easy to use, ultra transportable, and no toothpaste needed!

I'm also interested in information on glycerin blocking the absorption of minerals...has any one heard anything about this?

Just curious, isn't glycerin in toothpaste supposed to block the absorption of minerals into your teeth? I think I read that somewhere. This toothpaste has glycerin in it. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that?

Weleda makes a great lavender oil too. I used to use it when I was prego. I would rub it on my prego belly everynight, it helps keep the stretching skin moisturized and has that relaxing smell. Great for an before bed ritual while your prego.

I use Tom's as well and like it. I agree with quinn..I don't know much about what we should be looking for/avoiding in toothpaste!! Is fluoride bad in toothpaste??
-
I like the 2 in 1 paste. Called jam toothpaste. Daily users can use it on the brush while other occasional lazy people can use it on bread and eat. The teeth will shine like a star.

I've been using Tom's brand. They have some flouride-free options in peppermint and fennel (fennel has a bit of a licorice taste, I think.) Does anyone know how Tom's measures up? I'll have to try Weleda, too. :)

Thanks for this topic Alicia! Toothpaste confuses and worries me more than almost any product! Not only the vegan aspect, but the ingredients in general and how natural/harmful they are. When I couldn't track down the ingredients for regular commercial toothpaste ANYWHERE, alarm bells started ringing. Ever since I've been trying to track down the "cleanest" option. Looking forward to the discussion :)

My husband and I just started trying a brand called "Spry". It uses xylitol instead of fluoride. We've learned that xylitol naturally is great for fighting bacteria.

I use vicco, its all natural and leaves your teeth amazingly clean, like you just got a cleaning at the dentist! it is supposed to brighten teeth and help with sensitivity issues and gum issue, havn't used it long enough to find that out yet. has anyone else?

any recommendations for floss? the kindest ones i can find where i live still are made with beeswax.

Iek, didn't realise that flouride is so bad. Time to switch to another toothpaste! Going to look for the Weleda one, not sure if I can get this Jason Power Smile toothpaste easily.

I've used Weleda ratanhia toothpaste (love all of their products, actually) but I found something I prefer: http://www.sarakan.co.uk/story.ashx I use Sarakan at night and this one from Nature's Gate during the day because of its super fresh taste: http://natures-gate.com/shop/showItem.asp?ProductId=46100161&menuId=152. I love that there are so many healthier, kinder options out there for people who are willing to deviate from the major mainstream brands. Keep smilin'!

I use the weleda toothpaste all the time ...changing between the salt / mint /ratanhia/calendula flavours. :)

I love Tom's of Maine, but I'll have to try the Weleda. I'm always looking for new friendly products. :)
