I just heard about a food called misozuke (miso marinated tofu) that is being billed as the “vegan foie gras.” Now the concept of foie gras is a total appetite-killer, but misozuke is supposedly creamy and delicious and good on everything.
Have you tried it? Tell me what you think of miszuke in the comments below!

I've heard about this! I want to try it. Has anyone seen it available anywhere in the L.A. area? -

Check out my Cruelty-Free Faves post on Foie Gras & Faux Gras. I love the alternatives available now. Hoping New York -- the only state where foie gras is still produced in the U.S. -- follows California very soon with its own state ban on foie gras. http://bit.ly/oe51Yn -

This stuff is amazing! I found some at the Rainbow Grocery in SF and I think its available online. Fortunately I've never had fois gras, but it does remind me of creamy French cheeses, like Brie, that I loved before going vegan. This would be great on a vegan cheese plate! -
I sure want to try this Vegan Foie Gras. I think it would be wonderful on a GF/V Bagel! or Brown rice bread! I'm lucky I live close to a store that sells this vegan foie gras!!! -
The restaurant I work at in NYC (Kajitsu) had miso marinated tofu on the menu for awhile and it is awesome! Super creamy, and slightly sweet and tangy. I haven't seen it packaged like the picture though. I need to find it! I also agree with other comments that it shouldn't be compared to foie, it's really off-putting. -
I don't understand why anyone would want to eat somehting that remotely tastes like Foie Gras!!! -
This sounds yummy but not so much for me since I had to cut on all soy products, especially tofu (with the exception of a little miso or tempeh once in a while) due to the high levels of vegetable estrogen found in soy, to treat a hormonal imbalance. Speaking of a delicious and SOY FREE "vegan foie gras", I strongly recommend you to try Faux Gras by The Regal Vegan http://www.theregalvegan.com/site/ simply pure vegan yumminess.

There are recipes online for tofu misozuke that sound good and avoid the foie gras thing entirely. I'm planning to try some - they look easy and inexpensive...just don't plan on eating it anytime soon (it takes about a month to ferment). -
I haven't tried it, though I've been on the look-out for it for ages, since it sounds wonderful. However, the article you linked to says it's made with sake, so it might not be vegan! -
I like the vegan concept but I don't like that it's being called "vegan foie gras." "Foie gras" should be a "bad word." -
I love this stuff!! Discovered it at Rainbow in San Francisco about a year ago and it is so yummy!!! Try to save it as a special treat though (: -
Also try Faux Gras by The Regal Vegan! Delicious pâtés bringing compassion to some of the dishes of our childhood.

I don't like the concept of foie gras either, Alicia. Misozuke sounds Japanese and I haven't tried that either, Miss! (lol!), but I AM willing to give it a try if I run into it. Have a great Christmas Eve, Kind Life people, and of course, Mother Kind Life herself, Alicia Silverstone! xo.
