It's pretty chilly here in New York!
I recently found these coats by Vaute Couture which are so groovy! I love the styles, but I love even more is what the company stands for. They are dedicated to making products that are cruelty free, eco-conscious and high functioning... as well as great style. It's so cool... they use deadstock and vintage metal buttons. And I love things with a vintage touch! Check them out and let me know what you think.

You can find the coats here. I know they're pretty pricey, but if you're in the market to splurge on a coat, this is a great way to go. All the proceeds from every jacket sale goes to Farm Sanctuary to help animals in need! So cool. So you aren't just getting a coat that you can wear for the next 15 years or so"¦ you are donating to Farm Sanctuary too!
I recently met Leanne from Vaute Couture, and she is so sweet! She cares so much. I love that some of the coats are made completely with recycled materials, and that ALL the profits go to Farm Sanctuary, which is such a great charity.

And the best part... all of these coats are on sale, starting today! Leanne let me know that all of the coats are 35-70% off (depending on style and color) and start at $130 for this end of season special! There are promo codes listed for each style on their website that can be used at checkout. You can also grab a girlfriend, because you can get ANY two coats for 50% off each! Amazing sale, amazing coats AND for charity!
What are your favorite cruelty free clothing companies? I'd love to hear about them.

The jackets are very beautiful but in my opinion they are not warm enough for the Canadian winter when it is -10 C outside. (even 0 C) -
I'm not sure. You can send Leanne your question at the Vaute Couture website.
During the in-store pre-order sale, I tried on the Airs coat and it was too warm to wear for just a few minutes! I ended up ordering the Pea and the Belden. Really beautiful coats!

I just ordered two. I know they are so spendy but I have wanted them for a long time. Plus living in MN I know I will get my money's worth. I got the El in White and the Vaute in Recycled black. I cannot wait to get them. I will have to wait a while until it snows though... :) Also, I emailed Leanne for help on which two to choose and she is really kind. I think she is a great and innovative eco designer!

Really cute and very affordable vegan purses, wallets and other accessories are at http://www.espe.ca/. I get these for my friends for their birthdays :-) -
Hi Alicia! I am loving this blog! I have a specific style question for you-I work for Manhattan Theatre Club and at the opening night party for TIme Stands Still you had on the hottest zippered skirt! I trust you as far as responsible sources and materials for clothing and I am dying to know where it came from so I can purchase. I told everyone at MTC how thrilled I was to have a vegan in the building! We had soy milk in the fridge everyday of your rehearsal in our studio and it made me so happy:) I didn't feel like the lone ranger there anymore! And it goes without saying that your performance rocked my world and MTC is so grateful to have such talented, passionate people on our stage!!! -
i bought a coat and just recieved...i love it!!! at the sale price you can't beat it. i just ordered another. it's not easy finding vegan clothes. thanks for posting this website!

The customer service is amazing at Vaute Couture! Leanne has email me 3 times due to a technical billing issue with their site. She was quick to response and a resolution was immediate. I will definitely recommend this company again and I can not wait for my purchase to arrive!!!!!! -
I can't wait! I just ordered a $500 Vaute Couture coat for $275 total. I never like to buy anything not on sale and this was a sale that I got excited over. Thanks Alicia for posting the info about it!! -
You can check out http://girliegirlarmy.com/
Look through some of the older blogs for lists of clothing websites. A few months ago she listed sites for winter coats.

I am so excited!!!! I just bought a coat from Vaute Couture and since I keep coats FOREVER the price is fine with me. I've also been emailing with Leanne and she's been wonderful!!!! Can't wait to get it as my rain in Long Island just turned into huge flakes. Keep warm my fellow New Yorkers and stay safe in the snow. -
All the clothes and fashion suggestions are not for regular people's incomes :-( Does anyone know where to get cruelty free clothes at cheaper prices, if so please post! -

GDG (Goettin des Gluecks - which in English means "Goddess of Fortune") is a label of four Austrian designers - creating fair trade and organic cotton clothing for ladies, mainly. They are based in Vienna, Austria - www.goettindesgluecks.at -
Have you heard of TOMS shoes? If you are in the market for a new pair of shoes I highly suggest buying these! TOMS gives away a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair of shoes that they sell. I love that they have a vegan option too! The vegan option is of course, a little bit more expensive, but it's for a great cause!

I absolutely love all of Leanne's designs and have also had the pleasure of meeting/working with her. Not only are her coats and other clothes vegan, but she also goes to great lengths for her photo shoots to find vegan models, photographers, makeup artists, etc... she really practices what she preaches! Yes, they are pricey, but she uses advanced new fabrics to make sure that her coats are as warm and protective as they are eco-friendly. Thanks for posting the sale tip! I know I'm going to check it out! -
Speaking of Farm Sanctuary...I am adopting a pet for my class on Friday! One of my coworkers just did it today and I thought that would be an excellent idea!! I am so excited...it's either going to be a goat or a turkey I think....
