My friend Lalanya's vegan baby...this is the costume they made!

Full disclosure: Halloween has never been my thing, but this year, a friend is having a fun party, and I'd be a jerk to show up without a costume. What on Earth should I go as? I don't have much time left, so ideally I'm looking for something super quick and easy. Any ideas?

I think it would be cute if you dressed as a Kangaroo and had your son dressed as a baby joey in your pouch.

There's always a skeleton costume, luminous of course, or a green goblin or even a batgirl or sexy female vampire, Miss Alicia! Dracula always has bats and turns into one at times! Have fun anyway! xo.

What about a Lagoon Lady or Swamp Girl? Wear a green dress with green tights, wrap yourself with real or fake/tissue paper flowers and leaves, with green wiry vines. Lots of easy ways to make a sea goddess twist on this, too. Dangle seashells off of a homemade belt and wear a two-piece green dress (check 2nd hand shops), which you can easily cut up to create a more tattered Halloween look.

I go to IU and I am going to be a bunch of grapes! I saw someone in that costume last night. I will wear black leggings and a blank tank and blow up purple baloons and tape them on me. haha cute right?

I have the same dilema here. But perhaps you could go with something totally unexpected and go as a role from one of your movies. Clueless chick, vampire... etc

Cut a "P" out of felt and attach it to your shirt. Put dark make-up around one of your eyes. You can be a black-eyed pea. smiley-tongue-out.gif

      EVIL TOOTH FAIRY!

Wings & pliers are the hallmark!...Maybe a little fake blood and you get to be creative from there!

You can also carry around a little change purse with coins or a baggie of white chicklet type gum (for teeth).

or also, look through your closet, your mom's maybe, or sister's

prior to that $7 find, I thought to wear this vintage dress my sister found

      kind of Native American :)

      or a friend

be your friend, and vice versa, no need to buy anything

or if inclined, buy for a good cause too (world market was told is fair trade)

that just spoke to me, and need to get a few things (when busy- laundry!!!)

not to be consumerist, just energist :)

      Peace.

      This is to cute!

If anyone doesn't know, ask a kid who knows you.

Without any thought, my 7 year old neighbor was like, a fairy

as in me be a fairy

then I remembered Alicia saying she likes to be the earth fairy I think

so I added that inspiration onto the fairy idea

(i have wings from a ballet recital :))

and at world market found a very cool, slighly psyhadelic tye dye dress

that just screamed earth fairy- earthy but also teal and purple! ($7 on clearance

and will totally wear again and again- great for post yoga (I teach).-and plan to try

out this use a beet as make up raw food link :)) I posted a great find of healthy make up to on the style page, will re post when see make up section

fruit pigmented- they should make vegan eco glitter!!! fairy!!!!

So thank you Alicia and Milan!

      Happy Halloween to Everyone!

      Sweet treat if watching sugar

Puree green apples and pears in vitamix with mint (or cinamon this time of year)

so good!!!!!! could just do green apples!

raw cacao is sugar free too, as is shredded coconut

I love mesquite as well- low glycemic and very nutritious.

      Peace! Love! Smiles!

@ carly - I was thinking of that too...get some ears and a tail - target has them in a pack. rather than a whole costume, just get ears and a tail...and paint your nails black and wear black. put on fake whiskers and a pink or black nose....and then at the petstore get a large dog collar...for you! :-)

YEs priscilla! MS has really cool costume ideas!! i also used to decorate my house with a lot of her suggestions...but not anymore. no one comes over and its a lot of work! lol

      Ok alicia...some more ideas:

      1) cher from clueless...COME ON! iconic and you already have all you need. :-)

      2) what i did a few years ago...we have a theater costume shop nearby. they rent out costumes for theater productions and also rent to the public. A huge warehouse full. TONS of ideas. That's green....renting! If you don't have any of those near you (which I'm sure there are in LA) then go the local High School or Community COllege. They have seamstreses and costume designers who make all the costumes for theater productions and they will rent them out to the public as well. It's kind of late - so I'm sure if you like those ideas, you need to get on the phone or get in your car and go asap before they close today!! :-)

      3) for your hubby...the best homemade costume i've seen...a guy won the contest at a club i was at one year....and i'm not trying to offend anyone, so please don't take it personally...but he went as a mormon. He wore black pants, a white short sleeve button up shirt, a black tie, a book of mormon and a bicycle hemet. It was soo funny! And he kept "knocking " on doors and waiving to passers by.

Put on a black outfit,a witch's hat, some face glitter and maybe some red lipstick or a bright shade of eyeshadow you wouldn't normally wear.Done.Maybe it doesn't really make sense as a costume, but it would be fun, imo.Halloween costumes don't really have to make sense anyway, right? It's just fun.smiley-tongue-out.gif

hi Alicia...I like the idea of dressing up as a type of earth girl...sort of like a country girl, an organic girl...this is not really a costume idea...but I like the idea of having a costume for a country girl, who tends to her organic garden of fruit and vegetables...I think that nowadays there needs to be more attention to the earth and taking care of the environment...so a green outfit would be befitting...a dress for an earth girl/mother protecting Mother Earth...smiley-smile.gif

In a pinch I love the floral sheet ghost I made from an old goodwill sheet! Even a classic white sheet with some sexy boots works well! My husband put together a Macho Man Randy Savage Costume this year that was amazing!

Mother Nature! That's what I did for this year, and it was super easy and fun! I took an old fairy costume (anything flowy will do), tied fake flowers into strands (and made a crown) and wrapped one around my leg and across my body. I got lots of compliments, and it was a lot of fun!

first of all that baby is ADORABLE! I had the same problem this year, I needed a quick costume, so I'm being a cat. Just a black skirt and I have a cute vintage-y black t-shirt that says meow on it and some cat ears. then all I have to do is use the make up I already have to do whiskers and a pink nose. Super easy, for me anywyas, hope this helped!

ARGH!!! I am in a similar predicament! With no $$ to buy a costume, I have been thinking of emphasizing makeup rather than costume. There are some great tutorials on broken, creepy, doll-faces on youtube this year :-)

Ge "Kind Witch", wear white but don't be too good, carry a hollowed out pumpkin with some Kind treats

With your long hair, you'll look really good

Just for fun, when kids come trick and treatin' I go to the door in all black, cape, mask and holding a black plastic axe, point down to the ground like a sentry guard. It stops them in their tracks - and especially parents with them. Then they get sweets of course. They must tell their friend cos more come.
