I saw you on a talk show talking abou the kind diet and I wanted to know more. So I tookm your book out from the library! I never understood vegaism as easily as you have explained it. Right now I I am a lacto-ovo veg, and I am "flirting" with veganism. I can not afford to buy your book yet! Although I still take it out of the library when I need to!

I am an ex paramedic and 20years of abusing my body with shift work and a poor diet has taken its toll. The time is now, time to change and help mend some of the damage I have done not only to my body but the planet. I have not managed to secure a copy of the book as yet but the kind lady at the bookshop referred me to this site while I wait the 3 weeks for my book to arrive, I know the wait will be worth very minute but I would also like a copy for my best friend who is going through a tough time health wise at present, I had intended on giving her the first copy I manage purchase but after reading this site I may be a little on the selfish side and send for another copy and keep the first for me ( I don't think I will be able part with it ) I look forward to reading the book, incorporating some of the wonderful recipes and lifestyle changes into my changing world and the world around me.

I'm 15 years old and I've been a vegitarian for a little over 2 months now. This year I vowed to make a lifestyle change, and for the first time I am taking action. My dad was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I really don't want to end up like him. I also have asthma and I really hope to get rid of it, or at least improve my condition by being a vegan! Since becoming a vegitarian I have been the happiest I've ever been. Becoming a Vegan is the next step on my list of major changes and I know it will be hard. I've already started working out 3 times a week and I've stopped shampooing my hair, I now use an eco frendly mixture of baking soda and vinegar and it has worked wonders! Being a wisconsin girl, cheese is practically a food group! But I am determined to do it. When i heard about your book from a friend's mom, I decided to check out your website, I found a community that completely endorses healthy living and I am proud to call my self a part of it!

For the last few years, I have been flirting with veganism. My first introduction was the book "Skinny Bitch," back in 2006. For the next few years I was an on-and-off vegetarian. About six months ago, I stumbled upon your book on Amazon and ordered it immediately. It took some time, but when I finally opened it up--I couldn't put it down. I sat up one night and read it cover-to-cover. Happily, I have begun to fully embrace a Kind lifestyle-- and my heart and soul are happier for it. I truly feel more at peace with my life, and feel more connected to the earth. I'd love have another copy of your book, so I could pass it on to a friend! Thank you for all you do, it's made a difference in my life!

I am mexican and my mom is a great cooker. And I don't mean a great cooker as all moms are but she really surprises everyone with her art in the kitchen! I always wanted to have her talent but never really dared to go to the kitchen with her and learn. Instead, I would just stay in the corner watching as my oldest brother was becoming a great cooker and I was so bad in the kitchen. I spent most of my 20's eating for popcorn and coffee for breakfast...(I read that ballerinas used to eat that to stay thin). Of course, 5 years later I was diagnosed with endometriosis and told I couldn't get pregnant. This was my wake up call. I knew I needed a deep change in my life, so I went with a mexican "hierbero" (a natural doctor that works with herbs) and he told me what should I avoid for a while: dairy, wheat, meat and sugar. I did that for a whole year and my body changed. I didn't have painful periods anymore and I felt great. After 2 years I got pregnant!!! But I still was a lousy cooker! I wanted variety but everything I found was so full of dairy of other non-healthy stuff. So I bought The Kind Diet, not really knowing the recipes would be good. One day I tried the Sweet Potato Lentil Stew and it just blew my mind. It's been since then a non-stop discovery in the kitchen and of other amazing cookbooks. And, nowadays, my mom calls me to ask me for recipes!!!

So the reason I want this book signed by you is because I want to give it to my best friend, Anne, who lives in Washington and who wants also to have a healthier life but doesn't know where to start! I know this book will begin for her the amazing path it did for me...She just likes you so much that this book signed by you would be the most most most lovable gift I can do for her. PLEASE!!!!

ps. when are you releasing another book?

      Paz,

I come from a long line of very poor eaters, and unfortunately perpetuating it with my two girls. I have already had lap band surgery two and a half years ago, and lost 50 pounds, but I still want to become healthier. This past weekend a watched Forks over Knives, and I am now very excited to take on the challenge of becoming healthier. I have made it a goal to start May 1, 2012. I found your link from The Mind Body Green Site. I have been doing a great deal of research in preparation for this life change. Any and all help and guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank ou for your site, and support!!!

In the summer of 2011 I was diagnosed with Mitochondria disease. It has no cure, but the doctor told me to eat greens. My parents are from Ireland and growing up our diet consisted mainly of meat, potatoes, and root vegetables - we'd throw the green parts out in the compost instead of eating them! I found the Kind Diet at the library - and it has changed my life. It was exactly what I needed as a spring board! My children and I are Vegan. My husband has definitely increased his vegetable intake and decreased his meat intake, but won't rescind from meat or dairy completely. Your book has been instrumental in helping me explain what I'm doing for my kids and myself. I think he's coming around - he even offered to build me a garden this spring - and is even choosing which vegetables to grow! I am constantly taking "The Kind Diet" out of our town library - the librarians laugh and say it's good for their circulation count - but I feel guilty knowing that no one else will stumble upon it if I have it out so much of the time. I am thankful for the Kind Life website! There are moments of pressure from non-vegan family members - and right when I feel like throwing in the towel - I log onto the Kind Life and feel centered again!

I have been a fan for a long time, and I begame a Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian after a really bad back injury in 2006. Making the move to veganism, however, seemed really scary. When my grandmother passed away this January and I saw how much she suffered in the months that led up to her death, and when I looked at how my mom seems to be heading towards a similar sort of fate with her knee problems and other issues, I just decided that I want to do all I can to be free of the things in my diet that make me sick. The Kind Life is still very new to me, but I am enjoying the changes so far and feel that I have more energy and that my digestion is much better.

I found a recipe of yours on Pinterest and googled the rest. Became a vegetarian about 9 months ago after battling 10 years with GI problems and nobody being able to figure out why. Low and behold, cut out all meat and 99% of eggs and cheese and no more GI problems. Go figure!

I just signed up for twitter started following you. I have always known you were vegan, and have seen some interviews you have done (oprah for one). I always thought there was no way I could ever be vegan myself but always wanted to. Afew weeks ago my husband and I watched a the documentary forks over knives and both of us immediately decided vegan was the way to go! We are currently trying to tranisition from meat/dairy eaters to being a vegan. Considering we were eating chicken, eggs, cheese very regularly we are learning to cook a completely different way. I feel like finding your website could not have come at a better time! I am excited to explore your website!

I am in the transition stage of going Vegan. I have been getting support with Josh Neimark of the blog Vegan by Choice. He is AWESOME! I am going vegan primarily for health reasons and am starting the PCRM 21 Day Vegan Kick Start program in a few days. I am an ovarian cancer survivor and know that my diet is the key to my long term survival. Getting a copy of The Kind Diet would sure help! Thanks for considering me.

I became vegetarian several years ago right before I found out I was pregnant with my fourth child. The doctor's thought I was crazy and encouraged me to consume meat during my pregnancy but I didn't give in. I delivered my largest child and a very healthy baby girl. I have two young daughter (4, 9,) who are also vegetarian. One day I was looking at the library for some vegetarian cookbooks and I saw " The Kind Diet". I took it home and read it over and over again. I was so inspired by this book that I Googled PETA and found out the information that would change my life. I did not know what agony farm animals were going through to provide unnessasary food to humans. I cried for days and I still cry thinking about it. I shared this information with everyone I know. Other in my family were horrified when I showed them the animal abuse clips. It is my life's mission to protect all God's creatures. THank you Alicia for opening my eyes and changing my life. I would love to have a signed copy of your book as a reminder of the day my life changed for me and alot of other's in my family.

I went on a plant-based diet in August 2011 as an experiment to lower my cholesterol (233) and my husband's cholesterol (311). Over the 6 weeks prior to our next test, I read everything I could get my hands on to understand why a plant-based diet is necessary for human health. I was shocked to learn about factory farming and how a glass of skim milk was anything but innocent! Happy to report that after 6 weeks, my cholesterol dropped 20 points and my husband's dropped 80 points (His tri's dropped 200)! And at 4 months, I've dropped 40 total points and my husband has dropped 100 total points.

I'm not a vegan mentor in my community to those who want to transition to a plant based diet and will be the Food for Life instructor in my area come this fall.

A plant-based diet is kind to animals AND to humans.

I discovered the Kind Life last year. I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease 11 years ago. Last July, my doctor and I came to the conclusion that we needed to think outside the box when it came to treatment options. I had been out of remission for 7 years, had 2 resections done, and tried every medicaion on the market - nothing was helping. My doctor had originally told me that there was no official link between diet and the disease, and that while some patients have success with different diet options, it doesn't work for everyone. I remembered seeing an exerpt from when Alicia was on the Rachael Ray Show on RR's website. The second I left the doctor's office, I went to pick up the Kind Diet book - and it changed my life. While I still haven't gone into remission, I have noticed an immense change in the way I feel since I went Vegan. I feel more energetic, and for lack of a better phrase, healthier. I just feel healthy. And that feels amazing <3 I still have my bad days with the Crohns, but overall, Alicia's book/website has done wonders for me.

And to top it all off, since changing the way I eat, I've become more aware of the earth and the way people treat it.

      Hi,

I discovered your site through my co-worker. She showed me a copy of your book and I knew that the recipe of the peanut butter cup that she had made was on your website :) I became interested since I want to better feed my kids and try for now to limit to a minimum their intake of "animal product". I live in a small town where there is not a lot of vegetarian or vegan speciality product. I wanted to learn more with your site, how I can manage with this problem. I have enjoyed your blog so much. Keep up the good work and if you could talk about the challenge I face it would be great

I became a vegetarian at the age of 9 when My parents thought it would be ok to feed my my pet rabbits rocky and baby! yes cruel right! But I guess if it wasnt for that, I would have not discovered so much about myself! I have always loved animals and could not stand to see them hurt, I use to make my dad pull over when I was was little if we saw an animal on the side of the road ( I still do it to this day) if it was still alive we took it to a vet, if it was not, we moved it to the side of the road and called someone to come pick it up. I was loving my vegetarian life, Until I got pregnant with my daughter, and had to eat the occasional meat product because even with supplements I was not getting enough iron and such, which made me physically ill! but now I have started back on my journey, and I am trying to get my husband to go along with me, which is hard!, but my kids LOVE fresh fruits and veggies! they would eat them all day!! And NOW to have a chance to have your book ( which I have been looking for anyways) SIGNED by you! WOW!!! one of the vegetarians I most admire and look to for information, that would be amazing!!! I tried several years ago to go all the way vegan, and have not gotten that down like I want yet ( that was my tribute to Linda Mcartney the other person I admired with this lifestyle) I thank you so much for all you do to teach people (like me) how to live the KIND life!! you are such an inspriration! I would be honored to have your book!!! thank you so much for all you do, for caring so much about everyone and everything!!!!

I have learned TONS since my embarking on the kind journey. I have been a vegetarian for 19 years and a vegan for almost 6 and started out for moral reasons/love of animals. But I LOVE the personal health benefits, the positive impact on the world/being green, the influence on family, friends, coworker - by example, not by preaching. I love when people approach me and want to learn more. I must make it look appealing, at times! That makes me happy and proud. I love being a vegan, I love having compassion for animals and I feel like a better person in every way: physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, -- best decision I have ever made!

I have been a vegetarian for many years. I started on my journey when I was 19, while I was stationed in Australia. I overheard another individual making the statement that they were going to stop eating meat, well I thought I would do the same thing. I gave up all flesh except certain kinds of fish, but only at fish once in awhile. Namely, when I would go out to a restaurant. I never ate shellfish again or bottom dwellers. I kept this up until 1984 [I began my journey Oct. 1980] I stopped eating fish all together in 1984 until 1989 when I moved to California. Where I was working I couldn't afford much, so I ate lunch at a local McDonald's, the fish fillet. But, finally in November 2002, I completely stopped eating fish and stopped eating eggs or drinking milk in 2008. This year, January 3rd was the last time I ate cheese. I found you on Facebook, have always admired you, I too belong to the Screen Actors Guild & AFTRA. I want to live a KINDer life and help this dying planet. I'm now trying to help a friend who is diabetic change to a healthy diet. Thank you Alicia, for caring!

I first learned about the kind diet in 2009 or 2010, I can't remember. I was living in Maine and working at a natural products brokerage company and stumbled upon it in a local bookstore. I tried several of the recipes from the website and loved them! Especially the crocodile crunch and sweet potato lentil stew. Since then my love for organic and for cooking and eating a plant based diet has only expanded into all the people I have met. I love to cook for my family and introduce them to new recipes. I would love to have a hard copy of all the recipes to continue to introduce people to alternative, vegetarian meals. I believe food is medicine. Even to the point where last spring when I was sick for 2 weeks I tried to convince my doctor boyfriend that my fresh squeezed orange juice and vegetarian/fruit/veggie approach was going to cure my two week cold. In the end, I had to take some cough syrup to sleep through the night but I love experimenting with foods to help my health first. Since then, whenever my mom tells me about someone who has just been diagnosed with cancer my first question is always, what are they eating? and have they switched to a plant based diet?

I would love a copy of your book to add to my bookshelf and continue to cook with and share with other people.

My husband and I started our new Kind Life together just a few weeks ago. In our adventure to find the ingredients to all of the wonderful recipe's in your book, we discovered a food co-op in our area that we never knew excisted! What a wonderful discovery. Not only does the co-op provide all of the fabulous food we need and then some, it also allows anyone in the community to become partial store owners! In addition to that, the co-op gives 65% of all it's proceeds back to the community! Knowing this wil be a permanent life change for us, I'm proud to say my husband and I became owners number 8,616! What a great feeling to be a part of something so special. I have to say, being able to begin a new helthier, kinder life and to discover a way to give back to our community is more than we hoped for. I can't wait to see what else we discover along our way.

I first joined Peta, because I didn't want to dissect a baby pig, and a cat in highschool. While, being a peta member I learned about the horrors of what poor animals go through, and couldn't get the images of slaughterhouses out of my mind. I felt horrible. Then I decided to go vegetarian because I was having horrible nightmares about the animals I was eating. I couldn't deal with the guilt any longer so I decided to stop eating meat. I just recently started going vegan. I was learning how to be a vegetarian when started reading about the horrors about the animals used for eggs and dairy. I felt even more guilt, because those animals suffer even more than ones raised for meat.

Now, that I'm a vegan I feel better about myself, and I feel I'm kinder to everyone. I don't have awful nightmares about my animal friends anymore. I also feel more connected to the world. I feel like I'm helping the planet solve some of its environmental problems, and humanitarian problems too.

I saw the kind life in a bookstore, a few months ago. I would love to have a signed copy. I've always been a big fan!

This last month has been quite a change in my entire outlook on food. After having emergency gallbladder surgery a couple of weeks ago, I realized that the old eating habits that were ingrained from childhood were just not going to cut it anymore. So, I chose vegan and my life has improved in so many ways. I have more energy than I have had in my entire life, and I don't feel deprived or weighed down like I have on other types of diets. This isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change and I am so glad to have found this book. The recipes are truly amazing and I feel so much happier that I can now feed my family tasty and nutritious foods. I came across this book when I decided to go Vegan and checked it out from the library where I work. BUT, I've realized that instead of returning this book to be put back into circulation, I am gonna need a copy to call my own.

Since living without a gallbladder for 5 years, I had come to have many strange problems that no doctor could remedy or explain- especially with pain and red hot "things" in my feet - really weird. So I decided to go tto the doctor- long story short- I had mild fatty liver. I freaked! I immediatley started to research plant based diets. I stumbled upon Forks over Knives, researched the Whole Foods 28 day in storeE2 challenge and commuted from Santa Ana to West Hollywood On wednesday nights for the month of February. It was at this time that a friend who was in my support group shared "The Kind Diet" with me. I read it in two days. I still have it, and I would love to have my own copy- THE RECIPES ROCK. AND--I am the healthiest I have ever been- I am glowing!! Thank you for your support!!!
