I need a winter wardrobe because since going vegan my big sizes don't fit me any longer. I donated everything I had and its been tough to find kind clothes in my area. -
Hello, You're one of my fave chic names, and I love your style. I desperately need a new winter coat and don't have the money to buy once right now because money is tight. I also feel that I owe myself a winter coat since 1-I do not have one that fits and 2- I lost 50lbs in the past 7 months. I'm so proud of myself but none of my clothing fits me anymore. They are all to big and I look frumpy. I was in a terrible accident, when a drunk driver hit me in the passenger seat dead on while trying to speed up to make it through a yellow light. As we turned left he hit me and the seat belt held me in place, which forced my body (left side) to take such a blow. Anyway long story short I was immobile for 6 months and when I got home from shock trauma I had another 6 months to recover. My whole life I weighed 135lbs soaking wet, 5'7", and I went to the gym 4 days a week for 2 hrs. But 7 months ago I weighed myself and the numbers litterally made me cry. So I decided to diet and not mess up once! I hate giving numbers but I was 240lbs, and now I'm down to 190lbs and still going. I will keep going till I get to about 140 or 150. I don't wanna be a bean pole...lol! A gal needs some curves. Plus I'll stay on my regiment: Go to the gym 3 days a week, 1 & 1/2 hrs a day, 2 15min exercise setions at home everyday, eating smaller portions, and stick to heathly foods., but I became sooooo elated when I found this contest. so happy to see that you're having this contest. I so so hope you pick me!!!!!!!!

I would love a new winter coat because, while I am normally a stylish girl, I am now a poor college student with no money to spend on clothes. It can be difficult sometimes to find ethical vegan options that do not cost an arm and a leg. Thanks for the great giveaway!

My son was born November of last year. We live way up in Vermont, so we hibernated most of last winter and it was a wonderful way to bond. I went out a few times, but for the most part tried to stay indoors with him. When I first moved to Vermont I was given a Carhartt black mens small coat to wear, because it was so cold for me here in the winters. It is warm to wear, but I dont know how animal friendly it is, though it seems pretty ok. Ill have to look into that now that this has got me wondering, and I will be taking it out of the closet soon. Though its very useful, it isnt very fashionable, especially being a men's bulky coat. Also, now being a new mom, when I look to go shopping, I 99% of the time focus on getting things my son needs or I want to buy for him. I know this is something all new mom's do, because you love your baby and your child is all you can think about. :) Right now he is napping and a good friend, who is also vegan, sent this to me this morning. Id like to win a coat for this year, so we can go out and about and not look like Im preparing for a massive blizzard in my huge coat that I do have. But more so because, Ill be honest, I dont have to purchase it. That way I can spend the extra money we do have on my wonderful 1 year old and keeping him warm this coming winter. :) Thank you for taking the time to read this and offering this giveaway. We love your cookbook and even some of my non vegan friends have stolen your recipe from me for peanut butter cups. :) Have a great holiday and New Year. Love-Lisa and baby Solon Jude

I need a new coat badly!!! My current one has a hole so deep in the pocket, that when I was looking for my keys, and I dug deep into the hole (which only keep getting bigger as I lose more things ;) I found a set of keys...that did not belong to me! I HAVE NO idea whose keys they are and who they belong to and how long I have had them! I feel horrible that my own coat has become a lost and found and unfortunately I have no way of finding the owner! Before I find something else in this deep abyss of what has become of my jacket pocket, I can really use a new winter coat! Thanks so much!

I would love to win. I am full-time philosophy student at Millikin University and being a student I don't have much money to buy a nice wardrobe. I only have one winter coat and it is bright pink. I know it is greedy, but I would love to have 2 coats : ) I wear the pink one everyday and it is wearing out fast.

I definitely need a new coat this winter since the one I have is really too old and not warm enough anymore! Since I live in Canada, I would love to have a good coat

I am the 365th commenter which is telling because the reason I "need" this winter coat is because I have had a full year to buy a new winter coat and have yet to do so. I live in Maine, so a coat is somewhat essential so this could solve everything. Not to mention it's incredibly chic, not that that matters too much up here... Just kidding. I love Maine and I would love to be stylish in Maine particularly with a coat that represents my philosophy.

I would really like to walk my dogs throughout the upcoming cold winter weeks in these lovely garments that inspire earth-conscious decisions. Being chosen to receive these pieces would validate my ongoing choices to give much and take as little as I need. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and good work!

I would hate to say that I "need" anything, but... this year I do. And I hate to feel like I'm complaining, because every person has their battles. This has been the hardest year of my life, struggling at 23 years old with a chronic disability that causes debilitating pain to the point I can't walk. It's taken away my ability to do a lot of what I love - acting, school, work,... my life. I have an amazing mom that let me move in with her and is helping me recover, but we are struggling. I barely have enough money to buy groceries or gas or my medications, let alone a new coat (I live in San Francisco! Brr). But, I am strong and have a wonderful family, and I have not given up on getting better and getting back my life. I would love this new coat - it would be a lovely treat after a rough year, and something to smile about! I feel like I'm in need of some joy in my life - every one of these people commenting deserves joy in their life! It's just a coat, just a "thing", but even coats can make you smile! However, more than anything, I would love for my mom to see me have something to grin about - for her to see some more positivity in my life. She wants to see her kids smile. And we're the same size, so we can share and she can have some smiles, too! :)
Have a lovely holiday season, Alicia. To you, your hubby, your new baby, and all your animals.

Because i just came back from France and left most of my winter clothes at my now ex boyfriend's apartment (thinking i would go back this year and I won't, till next year) And I'm freezing!
-
Those coats are beautiful! I would really like a new winter coat because all of mine are old thrifted wool coats. Also, I live in Minnesota! Our winters are cold, snowy and brutal. It's nice to at least look cute when you walk out the door!
-
I would love to win the cruelty free coat and accesories! I feel so guilty wearing my wool jacket but I'm currently 42 weeks pregnant (induction set for tomorrow morning) so all additional funds this winter will be put towards the little one.

-
I would love to win the nice winter coat and accesories. I have a "work" winter coat that is too ugly to wear everyday, just to cut wood and work outdoors in the winter. My nice winter coat was leather and I couldn't wear it another winter, so I gave it away. I tried to wear it many times, but felt horrible in it.
More importantly we don't appreciate ugg gross boots spamming our kind site. Hope that person doesn't win.
-
I would love a new winter coat, because it is cold here in MN and I have had my current coat for 10 or 11 years, needless to say it is time, plus it is not as warm as I would like for the COLD Minnesota winters. What better way to start off the cold season then with a new, vegan coat? =)

"Need" is indeed a relative term, but I think it's high time I began wearing a vegan coat. And no better brand than Vaute Couture. Love Leanne! I've been sporting the same winter coats for years. An FCUK coat, an Aeropostale coat, an H&M coat. I just donated all of these to the folks who collect clothes at the Union Square Green Market. Now I am without. Which, given global warming and the high temps in NYC, isn't much of a problem. That said, it will, hopefully, get cold again. And, when it does, I would love to be at the ready wearing the best in cruelty free warm weather wear. Been pondering what to purchase from her site, debating what I can afford. This would just make my day-week-month-season! Thank you.

The word "need" is relative, but I would love, love, LOVE to win this awesome bundle of winter attire. I do have a black winter coat ... but it is big and therefore not as feminine and flattering as The Alicia Coat. And the sweater, earmuffs, and headband - seriously all so pretty!!! My husband & I watched Forks Over Knives a few months back, which led to the Kind Diet shortly after. Eye opening for sure!! My birthday was this past Wednesday and with some birthday money I purposefully bought an animal free purse. It felt amazing!! In many ways ~ this kind way of living is so freeing & fun & friendly. :)

Because I'm a poor college student who lives in Boston, is newly vegan, and is stuck with a wool coat!

I really need this coat because I decided over Thanksgiving break that I was going to go vegan. I was eating turkey and then it hit me that this was an animal. I read your book over break and realized that all of my life decisions, including what I wear, influence so much unneccesary pain on this planet!
I would love to win this because I am in my first semester of college and I'm having trouble finding an affordable, but super warm coat to walk across campus during those freezing winter days. Please help me Alicia!
-
My best friend needs this winter coat! She has changed my life in so many ways- she has taught me about freedom in love, and she also taught me through example about being a compassionate vegan! She is a constant vegan inspiration to everyone who meets her. She has just moved to NY for graduate school (in eco-friendly urban development planning) and is not at all ready for New York's harsh winters. I would love to win this to pass it on to one of the best people in my life! She deseves a bigger thanks that I can often afford to give her, and to look perfectly fashionable while withstanding an upcoming freezing winter as well! Thanks for the consideration! Love, H.

Hi Alicia,
I'll be starting naturopathic medical school next year and living off of student loans. I'm saving up for the expenses as much as I can now, but am among the underemployed right now, so extra cash is hard enough to come by, and will only be harder in school.
Among the schools I'm hoping to attend are two Canadian schools, one in Vancouver and one in Toronto. Now, it'll be freezing there in the winter, as I'm sure you know. This coat and other winter gear from Vaute Couture will help me keep warm on the budget I'll be on. I currently don't even have any winter coats, despite living on the east coast.. just an old Herbivore hoody with several holes in it.
And so, I would make great use of this beautiful winter wardrobe. As I work to further the evidence of the health benefits of a vegan diet and employ vegan therapies as a med student and one-day doctor, I sure could use some warm, fashionable, vegan clothes to help me focus on my goals, and not how cold it is in Canada! :)

Hi Alicia!!
While I know that I am not the most financially in need of a new winter wardrobe, I do believe that the Alicia coat would mean the very very most to me. It is something that symbolizes a very important turning point in my life. Leanne is the main reason I became a vegan and I would of never have known about her and her company if it had not been for you.
To me Vaute Couture represents everything I want to be. I want to be kind to people by buying fair trade. I want to care for the environment by using eco-concious items. I want to be kind to the animals by not contributing to their death. Lastly, I want to by stylish and fun doing it all so that others see how easy it is and want to do it too!
A post on the Kindlife led me to Vaute Couture. If it hadn't of been for you I would not have known about the company. I got a chance to meet Leanne during her pop-up tour and I became a vegan that very same weekend. It is kind of embarrising to admit but, I became a vegan because I wanted people like you and Leanne to want to be my friend. I knew that going through life ignorant and complacent about animal cruelty wasn't appropriate anymore. I realize now that it was the best decision I ever made. I feel like a little tiny hero every day.
It is all thanks to you and Leanne. I would LOVE to have a new winter wardrobe that represents the two people responsible for the new happiness in my life. It really would mean the world to me.
(BTW Thank you for the Thanksgiving event at UCLA . You are very down to earth and pretty hillarious. Thank you for taking a picture with me too!)
I hope your day is full of love and happiness. :)

Hello! I'm a first-year law student in NYC, and a long-term devout vegan and animal rights enthusiast. Like some other students here, I lack time and money to equip myself for winter--and despite the balmy climes we've been having even this late in the year, I know winter will come with a vengeance! I'd love a new vegan winter coat because my fall jackets just won't cut it when it finally gets cold, and I absolutely refuse to wear wool, shearling, or anything else with animal products. I'd also love to have the opportunity to win this amazing prize and show this city how fashionable veganism is!

I would love to win the "Alicia" coat! I need a new one because as a student I can't afford to let go of my very non-vegan shearling. I always feel horrible wearing it.
