Petfinder is an amazing place to find your next furry friend!! They feature animals from all over North America. There is literally thousands. It breaks my heart that there is so many unwanted animals but I can say that Ive saved 2 off of there!!
Not only do they have the large rescue socitety's on there but also the smaller self run ones! So, if your wanting to find a new cat, dog, horse, pig, etc etc check them out!!!
Every animal adopted is a life saved!!

That's how we rescued our boxer boy....he's the best....and our collie mix girl who passed away at an old age. We are so glad we were able to give her the life she deserved! She was loved! :) I highly recommend Petfinder...

We found our Alaskan Malamute through petfinder. Whenever someone is considering getting a new animal I send them to that site. And they don't just have cats and dogs. I think you could rescue just about every legal animal from that site.

I didn't adopt my baby. I found Bruce on puppyfind.com. I've always loved animals. I remember when I was in ecole elementaire, the kids used to tease me and call me Elmira who was the character on Baby Looney Toons that loved and hugged animals all the time. I love my cavalier king charles spaniel, he's the best dog. But it wasn't until I got my own pet that my love for animals took over my heart. I used to wear leather and fur. I ate meat. I went vegetarian and then vegan during high school, but college came, and then medical school and the stress just took over and I was like "screw this. Just give me some chicken strips". Well not when I come home every day and I see my lil' man's face I just realize how awful it is for those animals being killed for no purpose but to benefit out luxurious lifestyles. Now, being a doctor, I know that animal testing is needed in drug development. It is IRM protocol that won't change. They'll never allow direct to human testing w/o confirming that it is safe in animal system first. But there are tons of guidelines which need to be followed... but I digress. The point is that I am slowly moving back into the vegan lifestyle because of puppy power. Because the love of my life gives me kissies every time he sees me, watches The Simpsons and Cleveland Show with me, because when I'm having a bad day he gives me his goofy smile and everything becomes ok.

Steph, your dog is precious!! Melts my heart :) I also found two of my cats off of Petfinder! Animal control found Harvey left on the highway (I don't know how anyone could, most precious thing on earth!), over the course of the two years I've had him, I've been so thankful! We found Corey a couple of months ago on there, but his name was Toby. I think he was perfectly aware of what was happening. His name was Toby, but when we'd call it out, he'd hit his tail on the floor and make a "hmph" sound, so we changed his name and he actually responded! So weird! But anyways, I definitely recommend any of you looking for a dog, cat, rabbit, or any animal for that matter, search Petfinder, it's such an amazing site!!! :)
