Hi all.

I'm Brigid. Hailing from Portland, the land of happy hippies.

I'm vegan(ish) though I've gotten a bit lazy and unenthusiastic. When I think about my choices, I know what I want, but day to day I'm surrounded by people making different choices, and I don't like to inflict my beliefs on them, so I tend to be inconspicuous. I'm excited to see what this site grows into and maybe rebuild a bit of community, learn something, and make new friends.

I'm a photographer, a writer and a theatre person. Art all around me. I love people and animals (and you!)

Hi Brigid,

I think it's easy to feel lazy and unenthusiastic but often reading an article, a blog or a book about veganism can make you remember why you made the choice to begin with!

And you live in the vegan capital of America, you are surrounded by all things vegan, you lucky girl!

Hi Brigid. I am the same way, tending to be inconspicuous as you mentioned. I agree with Mandee...it is fortunate for you to be in Portland. Right now I'm living in Georgia but heading back to the pacific northwest. (I lived a year in Portland and 3 years in Tacoma. My husband's in the military but we plan to settle in Portland when we're done with this part of life.) I am so excited to be going back to where the options for a healthy diet are wider than deep fried twinkies or deep friend bologna. It's definitely difficult being vegetarian in the south, let alone trying to be anything resembling vegan.

Okay I'm rambling now. :)

I tend to be low key with my veganism as well and everytime I go visit my family some one starts an arguement over my eating. I don't bring it up but they seem to be obessed with it. Sometimes being veggie is very lonely. Terry

Like Carrie, I find it difficult to find not only healthy food here in Nashville, TN, but also find it difficult to find like-minded people. Here, I am a freak show. "What do you mean you don't eat chicken n biscuits?!" I get that a lot.
I hope you find people on this site who help you to regain your enthusiasm for veganism.
