So glad there are a lot of Jersey people on here. I'm originally from North Jersey but have moved 5x in Jersey and am now in South Jersey.

Anyway, I like these blogs:

Any suggestions on how to handle being vegan and living with meat eaters?

Hi Everyone!
I just picked up The Kind Diet last night and I am so inspired. I have never been a big meat eater, but dairy -- especially cheese ;) is going to be tough. Tracie--I loved your list--thank you for posting that. As someone just beginning - some of the unfamiliar brands and foods are a little intimidating. I know a lot will be trial and error--but if anyone is feeling inspired to list a few of their favorite brands of vegan ingrediants I would be very grateful. Just to have a place to begin and maybe a few brand names to search for would be great! I look forward to chatting with everyone!!!

Maybe this is off topic a bit, but I wanted to touch on Candy's question - dealing with meat eaters. I have an omnivorous husband, and he is super supportive and proud of me...but it wasn't always this way. At first I went "vegangelical" on him and tried to convert him....this doesn't work. People won't change unless they feel truly compelled to do something different. Just speak your truth and be gentle and non-judgemental, even though you might not get the same treatment in return. Be patient. If you cook delicious meals, they will probably come around to at least trying what you are making. Be firm and stand your ground. And my #1 advice is - do not discuss Veganism at the table when people are eating.

Hi there! You are an inspiration! It's so great to hear about your weight loss success and your work with the Farm Sanctuary and Woodstock Farm Sanctuary events.
I'm at the beginning stages of wanting to go vegan and I too need to lose weight. Thanks for sharing your story :)
