I saw Alicia discussing her book on TV while we were on vacation in Mass. this past week. Bought a copy and started reading during the drive back home to Ohio. Read the chapter titled, "Nasty Meat," out loud to my husband as he drove.
Needless to say, after a few pages he requested I stop reading. He also suggested from here on in that we not eat meat at home...ever (however, he still wants the option to eat it in restaurants, at a friend's house, etc.). This decision brings a HUGE change to our present eating lifestyle. I agreed to his idea with enthusiasm!
Think when I next have him as a "captive" audience, I'll read the chapter on "Nasty Dairy."

That's terrific! I keep trying to get my husband to read even a little of the book. He doesn't want to hear it... yet :)

I bought the kind diet book after I had make the decision to become vegan. I knew the factory farms were very bad, but I didn't realize the toll raising meat takes on our environment. I was shocked about the water consumption per every pound of meat. Talk about wasting our resources.. and most people have no idea that their eating habits are destroying our world!
I told my husband that I could no longer buy or cook meat. Needless to say he was upset. He thought I was being a zealot. I showed him page 25 in Alicia's book, and after looking the end notes to make sure her information was from reliable sources, he stopped being a jerk and we were able to come to an understanding.
I wanted to say thank you Alicia for actually practicing what you preach! By living the kind life with a positive non-judgemental heart you will make a huge difference in the world!
