Someone posted info on a new vegan cheese that is supposed to be really good. I have looked all over this website for it but now I can't find the post. Does anyone remember seeing this info? Thanks.

Do you think it might have been Dr. Cow? I have been hearing a lot about how amazing it is lately. And Alicia mentioned having the Dr Cow Cheese Plate after dinner one night in NY...

I haven't had very many good experiences with vegan cheese so far. daiya's supposed to be amazed but they don't have that here (NC). I tried Vegan Gourmet which was gross to me and then Follow Your Heart which was okay tasting but not good on its own really. I don't think I've every seen Dr. Cow but I like the name...

Daiya cheese is fantastic. It melts better than the others. And, Zpizza now uses it for their vegan pizza (which i highly recommend).

I prefer Follow Your Heart, but Daiya is the newest "cheese" out. Before Daiya was Teese brand. I think Daiya is just OK. It DOES melt the best, but too much of it and it tastes kind of plastic. I prefer Follow Your Heart and its easier to find. (and cheaper!) It will melt if you put it under the broiler for a moment or two. With some dishes I think its better to just go without the cheese than to try and substitute it...

My opinion is sometimes going without is the best option. Vegan cheese is kind of iffy. Things like Dr Cow ARE good. They are nut cheeses. Also, Vegetarian Times recently had an issue about making your own cheeses at home. These aren't melty cheeses but for other purposes. I've also made cheese type products with nutritional yeast. I just read the entry where Alicia says she doesn't recommend nutritional yeast but it is another option.

Experiment, play around and find what will work for you. For me, I personally prefer things like pizza without cheese rather than a vegan cheese.

Thanks everyone! I think I will try the Dr Cow and the Daiya but if they aren't good, I will go with Leena's suggestion and just skip it altogether! Thanks for all the feedback.
