Hi Everyone. I'll be in the San Fran area and Portland area this week for book signings. Do you have any groovy restaurant recommendations I should try?
I second Cafe Gratitude they're Vegan, raw, groovy etc...
If you want the best Oatmeal you've ever had in your life w/ fresh seasonal fruits and homemade granola on top try Stable Cafe.
I highly recommend Millenium for dinner: http://www.millenniumrestaurant.com/
If you want to buy your own groceries, these markets are siimply beautiful...
Birite Market - excellent local, seasonal produce, run by people who care
Rainbow Grocery - giant vegan, vegitarian paradise land with anything and everything you're looking for
Have Fun! SF is the shiz.
i was in san francisco this summer, and we ate at a resteraunt called Herbivore, closest to the haight ashbury district. it was delicious but the waitress was not friendly, but she might be to you haha :)
cant wait to read your book have fun up there
Millenium is excellent! Made a point to eat there last time I was in San Fran.
San Francisco has Cafe Gratitude - all raw, but you wouldn't necessarily know it by taste (texture is a giveaway though) - their desserts are the best I've ever had bar none.
Portland: Chaos is great but it's very accessible and you may be mobbed? Though portland cats are generally pretty cool.
Portobello Vegan Trattoria is fucking amazing, small portions but not too expensive and super duper amazing, worth the repeat amazing. (imo)
Powell's (the bookstore you're going to go to tomorrow) is the biggest I've ever been to, it's amazing - and just south east there's a pizza joint called Rocco's where they have the most decked out vegan pie crust loaded with all kinds of veggies - super fun... I went back to Rocco's despite all the awesome vegan food options in portland for another slice (and to browse Powell's).
