Hi my name is Danielle and I am originally from Sacramento, CA. I am a vegetarian because I love cheese and eggs. I have a boyfriend who is a meat eater but 80% of the time he eats vegetarian. We both are going to try and stop eating cheese for a month. Will see how that goes. Alicia Sliverstone is one of my favorite actresses. I think it's cool that she is sharing with us on how to live a healthy and green lifestyle. I am excited to read her book when the funds come in.

hi, everyone! i'm a native new yorker, recent vegetarian turned vegan, and a big fan of alicia silverstone! my husband is almost vegetarian and i intend to raise my kids vegan (that is once i have kidssmiley-smile.gif). i was raised by a vegetarian mother but besides that i don't really know any other vegetarians or vegans, so i'm definitely looking forward to forming veggie friendships here!

Welcome koi! if I ever had kids, I would like to think that I would raise them as vegetarians. :)

thanks for the welcome, melody s :-) and i think it's great that you also intend to pass kind eating habits and compassion for all creatures onto your kids!

Hello and welcome! The quickest way I got off dairy and eggs was finding out exactly what happens in the industries. The sheer cruelty of it all was enough for me. If you have to have eggs, the best way to do it is through someone you know that raises chickens in the best environment possible. We have a neighbor that has a few chickens that are treated like her children :), and we get a few eggs from her, for my husband. It's great to pass on veggie habits to children, but just be careful with "well meaning" doctors...they can think it's unhealthy and have social services on you in a second. Trust me, been there!

Thanks, but its hard to find farmed raised with loving care chickens when you leave in the city. I will have to look harder. Thank you for the welcome.
